Lo spunto del quadro lo troviamo descritto nel suo diario: “camminavo lungo la strada con due amici quando il sole tramontò, il cielo si tinse all’improvviso di rosso sangue, mi fermai, mi appoggiai stanco morto a un recinto sul fiordo nerazzurro e sulla città c’erano sangue e lingue di fuoco. I miei amici continuavano a camminare e io tremavo ancora di paura e sentivo che un grande urlo infinito pervadeva la natura”. Dalla bocca spalancata escono le onde sonore dell’urlo che deformano ondularmente il paesaggio, come un grido che sale dall’inconscio. Manifesto della solitudine umana e dell’incomunicabilità, l’opera focalizza l’attenzione sui principali interrogativi dell’uomo contemporaneo e individua i sintomi di un profondo stato di malessere, espressione di una denuncia politica e sociale. La progressiva e incalzante trasformazione, dovuta prevalentemente al dilagare di un consumismo imperante che ha investito la società moderna, ha rappresentato una sorta di rivoluzione copernicana che ha modificato radicalmente il modo di sentire e I contributi riportati nel volume si riferiscono alle lezioni tenute nell’ambito del corso concepire le arti visive e l’architettura, snaturandone la forma, ma ancor più la sostanza, Arti Visive e Architettura nella Società del Consumismo curato da Paolo Portoghesi alterandone e svuotandone il contenitore, ma ancor più il contenuto. Approximately 40 artworks from the Museum’s exceptional collection of 20th-century art, along with a handful of loans, are brought together to pay tribute to the creative genius of Duchamp and demonstrate his resounding impact on a select group of artists born half a century later. The original Bottlerack was an unassisted readymade, meaning that it was not altered physically by the artist. The bottle rack was a functional object manufactured for the drying of glass bottles. Duchamp purchased it from a department store in Paris and brought the bottle rack into the art world to alter its meaning.

HOW POP ART STORMED THE HIGH-ART CITADEL AND WHAT THE CRITICS SAID Steven Henry Madoff The image slyly disturbs, and yet it is brightly vacuous. Marilyn (Three Times). The hair is a molded mound of brass, the lips smeared with red. The eyes, weighted with two tech- nicolor slabs of makeup, a parody of makeup, have the opiated look of someone who has stared too long into the camera’s flash, who no longer sees anything but the packaged good she has become. The portrait in the picture is multiplied (here by three, by six in a similar silkscreen job, by a hundred in another) so that we may learn one thing above all else: that the painting’s author, Andy Warhol, knows she is a packaged good — pumped- up, electric-hued, and hollow — and adores what she is. He wants to be every bit like her and, even more so, like the world that made her. Warhol is in his studio (the Factory, he calls it), emulating that world, that glittering engine of the fabulous and the jaded, which, like his picture, offers up a star who fabri- cates feelings for a living, but whose own feelings get hidden inside the package, get lost in the repeated, endless manufacture. He likes what he sees. He states as much in an oft- quoted remark meant to announce his distance from Jackson Pollock’s proclamation, “I am nature.” Flatly, Warhol says, “I want to be a machine.” There is irony here and a will- ing blankness.

The eight artists in the exhibition were: Jim Dine, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Phillip Hefferton, Robert Dowd, Edward Ruscha, Joe Goode and Wayne Thiebaud. Jim Dine(1935-)as a pioneer of Pop art was one of them. However for the American audiences Jim Dine’s art represents a kind of American daily life in the 60s. In Dine’s drawings Jim Dine presents all sorts of Common Objects which you can also find in the hardware store such as plant, the shape of heart and hammer the tool and so on. These Common objects as images of daily things were turn into symbols having the intrinsic significance in Dine's drawings i.e. the images of these Common Objects as symbols mark common expressions about everyday life in American society. Nevertheless these symbols of Common Objects having the thought and the poetic appeals are subjects in this article. Meanwhile through the philosophical vision of German philosopher Martin Heidegger(1889–1976)we will can be able to see Dine’s art in depth.     Something astonishing in the way of art, music, or literature must one day come out of the great wind-bruised city of Chicago. John Russell, New York Times art critic Faint praise, indeed, for a city that boasts Saul Bellow, Harry Callahan, Robert Frost, Leon Golub, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Carl Sandburg, Studs Terkel, and Frank Lloyd Wright. This litany also could include the Chicago Imagists, who, in 1969, could look back over a remarkable three years of increasing recognition. They originally had begun showing in 1966 at the Hyde Park Art Center, situated on the campus of the University of Chicago. The core members, including Roger Brown, Sarah Canright, Ed Flood, Art Green, Philip Hanson, Gladys Nilsson, Jim Nutt, Ed Paschke, Christina Ramberg, Suellen Rocca, Barbara Rossi, and Karl Wirsum, variously had banded together to pres- ent their work in a series of exhibitions titled Hairy Who, Nonplussed Some, False Image, and Marriage Chicago Style. Most of the artists were native to Chicago, in their later twenties, and students who either had or were to earn their BFAs and MFAs at the School of the Art Institute L .A . SNAP / of Chicago (SAIC). They were drawn—like Pop artists in New York, Los Angeles, Lon- don, and Paris who were all a generation older—to the everyday urban world and pop- ular culture. But Chicago Imagism, unlike Pop variants elsewhere, was an art of personal fantasy characterized by assertive line, offbeat color, and consummate crafts- CHICAGO CRACKLE / manship. The very suggestion that the United States has a specific cultural history invokes nationalism and nostalgia. Nationalism, in the claim that there is such a thing as American culture, made in the face of centuries-old accusations that the new world was barren, stocked only with poor, provincial imitations of European art, literature, and fashion; nostalgia, because any assertion of American specificity inevitably harkens back to an earlier age. By the late nineteenth century, writers, artists, critics, and historians were already announcing the end of America as it became more industrialized, more like European nations in its embrace of capitalism, and more entangled with the world through its forays into international politics.
