Joss Tennis Courts Sun., 9 a.m. Third Place The Liberty League sponsors championships in 24 sports. The member institutions of the league place the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of its student-athletes’ academic programs. The member institutions seek to establish and maintain an environment in which a student-athlete’s athletic activities are conducted as an integral part of the educational experience. Originally founded as the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association in 1995, the conference was renamed the Liberty League during the summer of 2004. The league includes founding members , Ham- ilton College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the , Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, St. Lawrence University, , and . Vassar College became a full member of the league during the 2000-01 academic year. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute joined the Liberty League during the 2004-05 academic year as associate members in football only. Susquehanna University was added as an associate member in football only beginning in 2007-08. During the 2007-08 academic year, the member institutions sent 20 teams in 12 sports to their respective NCAA Tournaments, as well as dozens of individual student-athletes to NCAA Championship events in cross country, , and diving, tennis, and track & field. Among the best in the nation in the classroom as well, Liberty League student-athletes garnered 10 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America awards and 54 Academic All-District honors.
