Leaves fall to the ground, trick or treaters run through the streets trying to fill their buckets with ATHLETES OF THE 6 candy. Elderly passing out candy from their spookily MONTH decorated doorsteps, happy screams from the nearest CONSPIRACY CONNER/ 7 haunted house pierce the cold air. Halloween is a giant BUCKETLIST party for ghosts and ghouls but where did this national holiday we call Halloween come from? HEY MR. TIGER 8 Halloween is thought to have originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. During the festi- val people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as a time to honor all saints and martyrs. He called it Saints’ Day and it incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before Saints’ Day was known as All Hal- lows’ Eve and later was called Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a joyful holiday in- volving sweet treats and smiles. Instead of Halloweens’ original purpose of warding off ghosts it's now a giant party. Beetle Juice - After Barbara and Adam Maitland die in a car accident, they find themselves haunting their old resi- dence, and they can’t escape. When the new owners buy the home, Barbara and Adam attempt to scare them out. The Exorcist- This intense movie of the 1970’s based on a true events is about a girl who is possessed. The family of the possessed daughter tries to desperately save her from the evil entity that is taking control. Young Frankenstein - This 1970’s film is in black and white. It has a familiar face as the star, Gene Wilder. You might recognize him as Willy Wonka, from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This movie is about a young scientist who wants to bring the dead back to life. He suc- ceeds, and Frankenstein is born. 2 HALLOWEEN Spooky Short Stories! By: Rachell Beagley When halloween comes around everyone is decorating and getting ready to celebrate. It only comes around once a year so people all over the world are obsessed with this holiday. Doing things such as decorating, baking, celebrating, visiting gravesites and so much more. Here is a look into some of those stories. At first it didn't startle him he thought it was his great grandma. Later, he decided that it was not because he got a huge scratch on his arm. He left his room and didn’t come back for several days. He told me a second story later on that he has double wide barn doors on his room. He was sitting on his bed one night with those doors locked. There was no one home his family was on vacation. The doors suddenly slammed open and he left his room and did not come back until his family re- turned...Are you ready for halloween now? Halloween Traditions By Lexi Blackmore This holiday we call “Halloween” is celebrated all over the world. In the late 1800’s Halloween became a holiday in America. It was a get together for neighborhoods to have parties and to tell scary stories. Scary stories were told around a fire about anything paranormal. Halloween is celebrated almost everywhere in America. Kids dress up for school and to show their friends their costumes. In the beginning Halloween was aimed at the older crowd until vandalism spread. Then city leaders tried to keep it to the kids. Trick-or-Treating started to be a big thing, in the beginning of the 1900s. Trick-or-Treating started a bribery to stop kids from playing tricks on the adults.
