  • P-Bruins Stomp Wolf Pack to Lower Magic Number to Two
Providence Bruins Nathan Roberts [email protected], 401.680.4734 Eddie Pannone [email protected] P-BRUINS STOMP WOLF PACK TO LOWER MAGIC NUMBER TO TWO Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday night 6-3, lowering their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to two. The P-Bruins got two goals from Ryan Fitzgerald along with goals from Anton Blidh, Jordan Szwarz, Trent Frederic and Austin Czarnik while Zane McIntyre made his 42nd start of the season in net. Providence dominated the zone time in the opening period and it showed on the scoreboard. After being held scoreless despite an 8-1 shots edge through six minutes, Blidh gave the P-Bruins a 1-0 lead at 7:59. Taking a pass from Cameron Hughes, Blidh started a 2-on-1 break with Jack Studnicka up the right side. Rather than pass, Blidh surprised Hartford goalie Alexander Georgiev with a wrister from inside the right circle for his 11th goal of the season. Just 1:11 later, Szwarz doubled that lead with his 21st goal of the season. At the bottom of the left circle, he blasted a one-timer in off a pass from Fitzgerald to give Providence a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. That domination continued into period number two with Providence tacking on a trio of goals. Fitzgerald found the back of the net on the power play at 2:58, tapping a beautiful feed from Czarnik in from the crease to make things 3-0 Providence. He struck again at 8:37, taking advantage of a poor Hartford clearing attempt.

Today’s News Clips June 7, 2018 Chicago Sun-Times Patrick Kane, 6 other Blackhawks set to play in Chicago summer hockey league Satchel Price June 6, 2018 Several Blackhawks players will be taking part in a new summer hockey league coming to Chicago in July. The Chicago Pro Hockey League announced its inaugural eight-game exhibition season Wednesday with planned participants including Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Nick Schmaltz and many others. Over 80 players from the NHL, AHL and ECHL are expected to be play in the games at MB Ice Arena, the new practice facility that the Hawks opened in January, as well as a large number of top amateurs from top college programs, junior teams and AAA programs. Kane and DeBrincat are set to play on the same team, continuing their partnership from Team USA’s run at the 2018 World Championships. Brandon Saad, Tommy Wingels and Ryan Hartman will also be teammates again, along with former Hawks forward Brandon Bollig. “The CPHL is a great opportunity for our Chicago-based players to participate in high-level games to supplement their summer training programs,” said Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman as part of the announcement. “I’m thrilled to see so many Chicago Blackhawks’ players involved, and also thrilled that our local hockey fans will be able to visit our new practice facility and see some great summer hockey.” The first game of the weekly CPHL season will be July 11 and tickets will be a delightfully cheap $5 each. There will also be games on July 18, July 25, Aug.

  • Buffalo Sabres Digital Press
Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips November 7, 2013 Sabres-Kings Preview By Taylor Bechtold Associated Press Novemberb 6, 2013 Following a key injury and failed comeback effort, the Los Angeles Kings have lost their momentum on this home-heavy portion of the schedule. Perhaps a date with the NHL's worst club can get things going back in the right direction. With Jeff Carter uncertain to return, the Kings seek their fourth win in five home games Thursday night against a Buffalo Sabres team trying to win consecutive games for the first time. Los Angeles (9-6-0) won four of six to begin a stretch of eight of nine on its own ice, but came up short in a 4-3 loss Saturday in which it outshot visiting Nashville 38-17. The Kings faced a two-goal deficit heading into the third period before rallying to even things up on a Mike Richards' power-play score with 8:42 remaining. The Predators, though, went back ahead with 3:56 left. "We had a lot of shots, but maybe we should have got a little bit more bodies in front of them," said center Anze Kopitar, who has two goals and two assists in the last two games. Kopitar and Richards, who has three goals and six points in the last six games, will try to continue that production with Carter possibly missing his second straight contest. According to reports, the high-scoring forward was expected to miss at least a week after sustaining a lower-body injury in a 4-3 overtime victory over San Jose on Oct.

John R. Gerba, Esq. Maria Dennis, Esq. For the NHL: Joseph Baumgarten, Esq. Joshua S. Fox, Esq. Proskauer Rose LLP BACKGROUND Kadri/NHL This is an appeal under Article 18.13 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of a determination by the Commissioner upholding an 8-game suspension imposed on Colorado Avalanche player Nazem Kadri for On-Ice Conduct on May 19, 2021 in Game Two of the First Round Series of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues. During the game, Kadri delivered a forceful open-ice check to St. Louis Player Justin Faulk. The on-ice official's report states: At 13:30 of the third period, #91 N. Kadri (Colorado) delivered a hit on #72 J. Faulk (St-Louis). The hit was delivered right after Faulk shot the puck on net. It was a high hit from the blind side that made direct contact with Faulk’s head. As a result of the infraction, Faulk was injured on the play. He laid on the ice for a few minutes, left the game and did not return. Faulk sustained a concussion. Due to the injury, Faulk did not play in the remainder of Game Two or in Games Three and Four of the Series, which Colorado won in four games.

  • P-Bruins Fall 5-4 After Wild Third Period Comeback Falls Short
Providence Bruins Nathan Roberts [email protected], 401.680.4734 Eddie Pannone [email protected] P-BRUINS FALL 5-4 AFTER WILD THIRD PERIOD COMEBACK FALLS SHORT Syracuse, NY – The Providence Bruins fell to the Syracuse Crunch Tuesday night 5-4, falling behind in the Eastern Conference Finals 2 games to 1. The P-Bruins got two goals from Danton Heinen and goals apiece from Anton Blidh and Ryan Fitzgerald while Zane McIntyre made his 15th straight postseason start in net. Syracuse opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the opening period, taking advantage of their first power play. Matt Taormina sent a pass from the blue line over to Cory Conacher at the top of the right circle. He blasted a one-timer by McIntyre for his fifth goal of the playoffs as the Crunch went up 1-0. That lead doubled at 14:18, as Michael Bournival tipped a Mathieu Brodeur slap shot from the blue line that found the back of the net for his fourth postseason goal as Syracuse entered the intermission up 2-0. The Crunch netted a third goal five minutes into the second, chasing McIntyre from the game. With Yanni Gourde screening him in front, Matt Taormina fired a shot from the blue line by the All-Star goalie to make things 3-0 and force Providence to bring Malcolm Subban in for the first time this postseason. The P-Bruins responded after the change in net, showing signs of life and getting on the board with 2:25 left in the period.
