  • P-Bruins Stomp Wolf Pack to Lower Magic Number to Two
Providence Bruins Nathan Roberts [email protected], 401.680.4734 Eddie Pannone [email protected] P-BRUINS STOMP WOLF PACK TO LOWER MAGIC NUMBER TO TWO Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday night 6-3, lowering their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to two. The P-Bruins got two goals from Ryan Fitzgerald along with goals from Anton Blidh, Jordan Szwarz, Trent Frederic and Austin Czarnik while Zane McIntyre made his 42nd start of the season in net. Providence dominated the zone time in the opening period and it showed on the scoreboard. After being held scoreless despite an 8-1 shots edge through six minutes, Blidh gave the P-Bruins a 1-0 lead at 7:59. Taking a pass from Cameron Hughes, Blidh started a 2-on-1 break with Jack Studnicka up the right side. Rather than pass, Blidh surprised Hartford goalie Alexander Georgiev with a wrister from inside the right circle for his 11th goal of the season. Just 1:11 later, Szwarz doubled that lead with his 21st goal of the season. At the bottom of the left circle, he blasted a one-timer in off a pass from Fitzgerald to give Providence a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. That domination continued into period number two with Providence tacking on a trio of goals. Fitzgerald found the back of the net on the power play at 2:58, tapping a beautiful feed from Czarnik in from the crease to make things 3-0 Providence. He struck again at 8:37, taking advantage of a poor Hartford clearing attempt.

BOSTON BRUINS MEDIA DAY PRESS CONFERENCE OWNER JEREMY JACOBS, CEO CHARLIE JACOBS, PRESIDENT CAM NEELY, GENERAL MANAGER DON SWEENEY, HEAD COACH BRUCE CASSIDY Monday, October 3, 2017 BOSTON BRUINS MEDIA DAY PRESS CONFERENCE On expectations for the season… JJ (Jeremy Jacobs): How many times you guys have asked that. How many times have I been right? I think they are a very exciting team, a very young team. I think we have a real – we’ll see change since the end of last year, versus when Butchy [Bruce Cassidy] took over. I think it’s going to be a continuation and maybe an improvement on that. That’s what I’m looking forward to. Again, how many times have I been asked that? How many times have I been right? It’s another answer. Hope springs eternal as far as this guy is concerned. On Zdeno Chara… JJ: Zee [Zdeno Chara] has been a real killer here. His physicality and his endurance, the time he spends on the ice. He’s been a tremendous investment, but his personality and his character goes a long way to establish what this team is. I think he’s done a great job with it. And his captaincy is very much earned. BC (Bruce Cassidy): As far as a mentor on the ice, Brandon Carlo could best answer that. But clearly he has been paired with him and both Charlie McAvoy, two young guys. Because he accepts that role, he relishes it. He wants to work with younger guys, while still taking care of business on the ice.

  • On How Many Chances This Core Has Left
BOSTON BRUINS QUOTES End of Season Media Availability Friday, June 11, 2021 BOSTON BRUINS FORWARD PATRICE BERGERON… On how many chances this core has left... Every year, as you don't achieve your goal and the further you go in your career, you get to realize it's a year closer to retirement. So, obviously, it's tough. From one year to the next, it's always a missed opportunity and you want to keep going at it. It's hard. As you get older, you know that you don't have that many chances to achieve your goal and have a team that can actually compete for a Stanley Cup, so it's always disappointing. About changes, I'm not sure. It's not up to me. You always want to keep the same group and I feel like we have a great group here. We'll see what happens. On how he feels physically... I feel fine. Obviously, the usual aches and bruises of a season and playoff hockey. The groin held up fine this year, which is great news. I'll take it a year at a time and see how my body feels and all that. On the top six going forward... I think we have a great mix of guys. I think, not just from the top-six, but even throughout, I thought we had great depth. It was challenged many times this year, faced a lot of adversity. I thought the guys that came in did a great job and stepped up. I do think we can compete, we're close to having a Stanley Cup-caliber team, and we'll see what happens.
