Call for papers
Papers related to the conference theme: Egypt, Sudan and Abroad are now invited. This Paris session will create the occasion to discover the numerous Egyptian art collections kept in French museums and to brainstorm together about the upcoming festivities for the 2022 Bicentenary of Hieroglyphs decipherment. The chosen theme “Egypt, Sudan and Abroad” will allow a focus on different topics such as collaborative projects between international institutions, the European Cooperation with Tahrir Museum in Cairo and the issue of storerooms in and out. We would like Sudan archaeological collections holding an important part of the conference, with a session devoted to Kushite archaeology in museums and the visit of the Louvre exhibition “Pharaon des Deux Terres. L’épopée africaine des rois de Napata”. As usual, the meeting will also welcome other topics related to museums work on Egyptian and Sudan collections. We look forward to seeing you in Paris!
As it is the CIPEG tradition, there is also an Open Forum for papers related to general museums work in Egyptian and Sudan Archaeological collections.
If you wish to present a paper, please send the title and an abstract (in English) of no more than 300 words to the conference office: Caroline Thomas (curator, Musée du Louvre) [email protected] and cc. to Daniela Picchi (secretary, CIPEG) [email protected] Abstracts should be submitted as Word files and include your name, title, institutional affiliation (if appropriate) and full contact details.
