A&E's '' On Campus!

A&E's "Storage Wars" featured the Mortuary Science Program — and retired Professor Dave McCament, specifically — in an episode titled "Nowhere to Formaldehyde." The episode debuted at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, and was filmed on campus last summer.

Buyers Jarrod Shulz and Brandi Passante brought three items for McCament's expert evaluation. He identified them as a '20s/'30s-era dressing table, cosmetics airbrush system, and incomplete embalming machine set used to remove fluids from and inject preservative fluids into bodies. The scene was shot primarily in the Mortuary Science Department’s embalming room — a source of discomfort for Jarrod — and includes other visual elements of the campus.

In 2014, the voters of North Orange County chose to pass Measure J, a $547 million bond that sought to fund the renovation and building of facilities at Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education. This year, Cypress College is proud to break ground on the first project funded by Measure J: the Science, Engineering & Math Building.

When: Friday, February 8 at 9:30 a.m.

Where: Near the current SEM building and the Pond

Next month, Cypress College will also break ground on the second Measure J-funded project: the Veterans Resource Center.
