  • November 29Th, 2018 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
November 29th, 2018 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Department of Homeland Security 20 Massachusetts Avenue NW Washington, DC 20529-2140 Dear Chief Deshommes, Enclosed is a petition signed by 10,391 people from across the country calling for DHS to reject the implementation of the proposed rule change outlined in Docket No. USCIS-2010-0012, which would prove devastating to many hardworking families, and which defies evidence that shows the long-term benefits of programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Thank you for your consideration of the following comments. Re: DHS Document No. USCIS-2010-0012: Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds; Notice of Proposed Rulemaking I submit this comment to express strong opposition to proposed sweeping changes by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to US immigration law and to the definition of a “public charge.” This proposed rule defies evidence that programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) greatly improve long-term public health and life outcomes for children. This change would prove devastating to many hardworking families who could be forced in hard times to choose between meeting their daily needs and maintaining a path to citizenship. These policy changes would negatively impact our children and communities. These changes would make them face greater risk of hunger and poor health without assistance from programs such as SNAP, which has been linked to improved birth weight and neonatal health, improved school performance, and fewer hospital visits. The proposed policy also undermines the core function of the federal safety net, which protects us all from the unexpected and could lead to worsening hunger and health disparities among some of our most vulnerable populations.

Cubed Circle Newsletter Issue 229 – It's Here Everybody! Say what you will about the build to WrestleMania 32, or even recent WrestleManias in general; I don't think that many would argue with the idea that WrestleMania Weekend is the best time of the year to be a wrestling fan – perhaps only rivalled by the G1 Climax. If you are a fan of professional wrestling there will be something for you to enjoy this weekend, of that you can be sure. We have a light issue for everyone this week, as we get ready for one of our best and biggest issues of the year in our annual WrestleMania issue next week. As always, Ben covers all of the news in the Pro-Wres Digest, as well as coverage of the go-home edition of RAW from Monday night! – Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter Editor The Pro-Wres Digest for March 27th – April 1st. @BenCarass. Top Stories: We unfortunately have some heartbreaking news to start what is the biggest week of the year for pro wrestling, as 32 year-old British wrestler Kris Travis tragically passed away after an 18 month battle with stomach cancer on 31/3. Travis was diagnosed with the disease in October 2014 and had to pull out of the second season of TNA British Bootcamp because of the diagnosis. In 2015 he underwent surgery to remove a tumour and a part of his stomach then went through 18 weeks of intensive chemotherapy, which appeared to put him on the road to recovery. Travis defied all doctors expectations and returned to the ring at a Preston City Wrestling show on August 7th 2015.

  • Year Ago, Inspired by the Dr. Keith Presents Annuals of 2011 and 2012, We Published
year ago, inspired by the Dr. Keith Presents Annuals of 2011 and 2012, we published the Ainaugural Cubed Circle Yearbook, attempting to encapsulate what was a pivotal year for professional wrestling in 2014. This year we hope to do the same, albeit for a year of a decidedly different sort. 2015 was dissimilar to 2014 in many respects. It didn't see moments as grandiose as the end of the Undertaker's Streak, Daniel Bryan's WrestleMania victory, or the Guerrero-Atlantis mask match. When evaluated from afar 2015 may even appear stagnant in comparison, as did many of the world's largest and most influential promotions during the year – WWE, NJPW, and CMLL in particular. But, upon closer inspection, the seemingly motionless landscape of 2015 wasn't only very much alive, but both morose and vibrant, disheartening and emboldening. The open wrestling fan of 2015 had more choice and freedom than perhaps ever before, with some ardent observers of the industry even abandoning Monday Night RAW for lack of faith in the lumbering weekly juggernaut. Some turned to Lucha Underground, a show that garnered considerable cult popularity. Others looked to alternative facets of the company such as NXT, which grew beyond what many considered its zenith at the end of 2014, harbouring one of the better years for American women's wrestling in decades. AAA showed promise and ambition on several fronts, but was subject to unfortunate, and at times tragic, circumstances. NJPW was as repetitive creatively as it had been under the Kidani administration, but produced one of the best nights of wrestling of the last several years in WrestleKingdom 9 – made more readily available to an American audience than ever before.

Cubed Circle Newsletter 237 – Who's Huntin' Hunt? We (Ben) are back with the last of the 'Exam Session of Doom' newsletters for the time being with coverage of all the major news from the week in wrestling including Ospreay's BOSJ victory, the return of Brock Lesnar to the UFC, Cody Rhodes' bucket list, NXT Takeover: The End, Monday Night RAW and more! – Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter Editor The Pro-Wres Digest for June 5th – June 11th Ben Carass Top Stories: While still under WWE contract, and with the approval of the company, Brock Lesnar will be fighting Mark Hunt at UFC 200 on July 9th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The return of the former UFC and WWE World Heavyweight Champion was officially announced at the UFC 199 show on 4/6 when he appeared at the very end of the commercial for UFC 200. On the broadcast, Joe Rogan appeared to have no idea what was going on and Mike Goldberg had to explain that Lesnar was coming back to fight. Hunt was named as Lesnar's opponent on 6/6 during an interview with Brock on ESPN's Sports Centre. Lesnar talked about regretting the decision to retire from MMA, which he made prior to WrestleMania 31 last year when he re-signed with the WWE. He also noted that he called Dana White first and things got rolling from there, with White and McMahon making “billionaire decisions” to put the deal together. Dave Meltzer reported in the Observer this week that Lesnar had a clause added to his WWE contract contract which allowed him to take one fight in the UFC and that Brock and the WWE had no influence in choosing the opponent.
