Install Windows 8.1 UEFI as Dual Boot

Install Windows UEFI (and other UEFI OSes) are quite easy because you don't need to mess up with Boot records. See FAQ for more detail.

**To Install Windows 7 UEFI on 7-series laptops, you must select UEFI hybrid (with CSM) in BIOS.

On Mac OS X Yosemite

1. Use Disk Utility to create a new partition with MS-DOS (FAT) format on hard drive for Windows. This will likely to be converted into Hybrid MBR.

2. To fix this to GPT: 2.1. Download GPT fdisk from its Sourceforge page and install it. 2.2. Launch gdisk on your disk by typing sudo gdisk /dev/disk0 in a Terminal window (X=disk number of the hybrid MBR disk- check Diskutil list on Terminal, probably is DISK0). 2.3. Type p to view the partition table to verify you're working on the correct disk. (If not, type q to quit without saving your changes and try again with another device, eg. disk1.) 2.4. Partition 3 is where I am going to install windows 8.1 2.5. Type x to enter the experts' menu. 2.6. Type n to create a fresh protective MBR. Note that gdisk won't confirm a change; it'll just show you a new experts' prompt. 2.7. Type w to save your changes. You'll be asked to confirm this action. Do so. 2.8. Type y to confim.

On windows 7/8/8.1

3. Create your Windows UEFI install USB key by following the guide here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...e-windows.html a. Download the latest version of Rufus at the link below, and save it's .exe file to your desktop.

Note This is a standalone exe file that doesn't install anything to your PC.
