Today, having a clear faith based on the Creed of the Church is often labeled as fundamentalism. Whereas relativism, that is, letting oneself be “tossed here and there, carried about by every wind of doctrine”, seems the only attitude that can cope with modern times. We are building a dictatorship of relativism that does not recognize anything as definitive and whose ultimate goal consists solely of one’s own ego and desires. Historical Sources of Marist Spirituality
Historical sources of Marist spirituality Br. Michael Green This text comprises a series of articles written in 2020 by Marist historian and spiritual writer, Br Michael Green, on the theme of Marist spirituality. Br Michael takes the six characteristics of our spirituality that are named in ‘Water from the Rock’ and explores their historical and spiritual sources, relating them to the situations of today’s Marists. The articles were written for the Australian online Marist newsletter ‘Christlife’, and were also published in the education journal ‘Champagnat’. Introduction Marcellin Champagnat didn’t know anything about Marist spirituality, or about any kind of spirituality for that matter. What? No, there’s no myth-busting exposé to follow. Please, stay calm and keep reading. The term ‘spirituality’ has not been around for long, just over a hundred years or so. The word, as a noun, would have been unknown to Marcellin. It emerged in France towards the end of the nineteenth century, and grew in common usage in the second half of the twentieth, helped not insignificantly by the assiduous compiling, between 1928 and 1995, of a mammoth ten-volume academic work called the Dictionnaire de Spiritualité. Begun by a small team of French Jesuits, its 1500 contributors came to include many of the leading theologians and masters of the spiritual life of the twentieth century. The concept of ‘spirituality’ (singular and plural) took its place in mainstream religious discourse. Today its breadth and grab is wide, covering not only traditional paths of the Christian spiritual life, but also those of non-Christian traditions, and indeed non-theist ways of experiencing and understanding life and the cosmos. -
CONDEMNATION of COMMUNISM in PONTIFICAL MAGISTERIUM Since Pius IX Till Paul VI
CONDEMNATION OF COMMUNISM IN PONTIFICAL MAGISTERIUM since Pius IX till Paul VI Petru CIOBANU Abstract: The present article, based on several magisterial documents, illus- trates the approach of Roman Pontiffs, beginning with Pius IX and ending with Paul VI, with regard to what used to be called „red plague”, i.e. communism. The article analyses one by one various encyclical letters, apostolic letters, speeches and radio messages in which Roman Pontiffs condemned socialist theories, either explicitly or implicitly. Keywords: Magisterium, Pope, communism, socialism, marxism, Christianity, encyclical letter, apostolic letter, collectivism, atheism, materialism. Introduction And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Rev 12,3-4.13.17). These words, written over 2.000 years ago, didn’t lose their value along time, since then and till now, reflecting the destiny of Christian Church and Christians – „those who guard the God words and have the Jesus tes- timony” – in the world, where appear so many „dragons” that have the aim to persecute Jesus Christ followers. -

The Roman-Catholic Priests of Moldavia During the Early Cold War
The Roman-Catholic Priests of Moldavia during the early Cold War. The Implications of the „Fight for Peace” Campaign on the Diocese of Iaşi (Abstract) Andrei PUIU Keywords: Roman-Catholic, Moldavia, „Fight for Peace”, Cold War, priests, collaboration, Gerald Patrick O`Hara, Anton Durcovici. The subject of the present study falls into the relationship between the communist state of Romania versus the Roman-Catholic Church during the early Cold War era. In this period, as suggested by the Soviet Union, the communist political leadership from Bucharest tried to approach the Roman-Catholic church issue by submitting the latin catholic rite towards state authority. This could be done through the ending of any type of contacts between the local catholic churches of Romania and the Vatican, on the ground that the pope is allegedly posed in the service of the imperialistic bloc, championed by the United States. Thus, following the communist political logic, the roman-catholic priests were obliged to recant themselves from the pope, as he was described just as being the „imperialistic” tool inside the socialist bloc. Furthermore, the roman catholic-priests were forced into a plan – designed and strictly supervised by the authorities – that considered the formation of a so called „National” Roman-Catholic Church. This institution was intentioned to follow the political regime by every means. Covered by the national propagandistic „Fight for Peace” campaign, the cooptation operation launched by the authorities over the roman-catholic priests of Moldavia was prepared by a few vital steps. First, the communist leadership issued a series of laws that were designed to break the canonicall functioning of the Roman-Catholic cult. -

Since the day it was finished, art students have journeyed to Milan to view the work, which takes up a refectory wall in a Dominican convent next to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The 20th-century writer Aldous Huxley called it “the saddest work of art in the world”: he was referring not to the impact of the scene – the moment when Christ tells his disciples “one of you will betray me” – but to the fresco’s state of deterioration.
