WORLD VISION CHINA 2020 ANNUAL REPORT Our Promise 2030: Building Brighter Futures for Vulnerable Children Foreword Living up to its title as a “new” decade, 2020 has certainly driven humanity to review our priorities and find new ways to get things done. Since the coronavirus outbreak early in the year, World Vision China has been constantly adjusting our priorities and finding creative solutions to address the challenges that this global pandemic has brought. In southern parts of China, many communities were further impacted by the most severe floods in 30 years during the summer months. These challenges made the team at World Vision more determined to constantly adapt and find new ways to help children and their families build sustainable futures. One thing remained constant throughout the uncertainties of 2020: our deep commitment to serve the most vulnerable children— migrant and left-behind children, those with special needs, and children who have been affected by National Director of World Vision China, disasters. After all, the achievements featured here are not merely a show of the progress we have made, and what still needs to be done, but also a celebration of the impact and hope we have created together for those who truly need it most. Founded in 1950, World Vision International is a child-focused organization that carries out relief, development and advocacy work. We serve the most vulnerable children, families and communities in nearly 100 countries and regions across the world with over 37,000 staff. 200 million Because of our community-focused solutions, for every child you help, 4 more children benefit too. Together we’ve impacted the lives of over 200 million vulnerable children by tackling the root causes of poverty. 89% Over the last five years, 89% of the severely malnourished children we treated made a full recovery. 2 World Vision China In 1993, World Vision China was established to carry out work in poverty alleviation and community development. All of our projects are initiated through close partnership with the local government, and receives their full support. In 2020, World Vision China operated 26 child-focused Area Programs that directly benefited46,980 sponsored children and served 1,864,539 people in China. In accordance with the Law on Administration of Activities of Overseas Non-governmental Organizations in the Mainland China, World Vision China has Representative Offices in Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Tianjin, Guangxi, Shaanxi and Hebei. In 2020, our total expenditure was RMB 107,273,591 (USD 15.21 million). We are supported by World Vision offices worldwide, with nearly 60% of funds raised via monthly donations from Hong Kong. World Vision China is accountable to our donors through annual internal and external audits, and diligent selection of partners we work with. We bring key actors together to create caring and supportive environments for all children, especially the most vulnerable children. In 2020, World Vision China’s Child Protection projects have impacted the lives of 71,000 people. 1.
