(Donation for samples were welcomed) The donations from this week- end’s activities will be used to feed the Civil War re-enactors during the Battle of Fort Knox, a reenactment event to be held at the fort from Fri- day through Sunday, July 23-25. It should be a real blast! In addition to the oven, spon- sored by the Maine Department of Conservation, the Friends of Fort Knox provided additional displays including a field medical tent out- fitted with equipment from the Civil War and a Parrot cannon firing. On this particular day, the cannon was fired each hour, with the echo of the blast heard up and down the river valley and the white smoke billow- ing into the air.
