THE COUNTY COUNCIL (A120 BYPASS ()) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2017

The Highways Act 1980

and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (in this order called ‘the acquiring authority’) makes the following order;

1. Subject to the provisions of this order, the acquiring authority is under sections 239, 240, 246, 250 and 260 of the Highways Act 1980 hereby authorised to purchase compulsorily the land and the new rights over land described in paragraph 2 for the purpose of:

(1) the construction of a highway bypass north of the village of Little Hadham from a new roundabout on the A120 650m west of the junction with C15 Albury Road to a new roundabout on the A120 2.5km east of the junction with C15 Albury Road, to bypass the village of Little Hadham being in the district of East Herts in the County of Hertfordshire;

(2) the construction of a bridge to carry the C15 Albury Road over the bypass approximately 730m north of the village of Little Hadham and the construction of embankments to carry the bypass over the River Ash and the Albury Tributary;

(3) the stopping up and improvement of the existing highway and the construction of new highways in the vicinity of the route of the above mentioned highway in pursuance of the Hertfordshire County Council (A120 (Little Hadham) Bypass Classified Road) (Side Roads) Order 2017;

(4) the stopping up and provision of new means of access in pursuance of the Hertfordshire County Council (A120 (Little Hadham) Bypass Classified Road) (Side Roads) Order 2017;

(5) use by the acquiring authority in connection with the construction and improvement of highways and the provision of new means of access to premises as aforesaid;

(6) mitigating the adverse effect which the existence or use of the highways proposed to be constructed or improved as mentioned in article (1)-(5) above, will have on the surroundings thereof.

2. (1) The land authorised to be purchased compulsorily under this order is the land described in the Schedule and coloured pink on a map prepared in duplicate, sealed with the common seal of the acquiring authority and marked ‘Map referred to in The Hertfordshire County Council (A120 Bypass (Little Hadham)) Compulsory Purchase Order 2017’.

(2) The new rights to be purchased compulsorily over land under this order are described in the Schedule and the land is shown coloured blue on the said map.
