Der Führer des Polit-Multis ist Lyndon H. LaRouche, 64 Jahre alt, Amerikaner, «Unternehmensberater», «Philosoph», «großer Ökonom». In der Bundesrepublik sind vor allem drei «Ableger» bekannt: die «Europäische Arbeiter Partei» (EAP), das «Schiller-Institut» und die neugegründete «Bürgergruppe Patrioten für Deutschland», die erstmals im Juni 1986 in Niedersachsen Stimmen sammelte. Helga Zepp-La-Rouche, Ehefrau des amerikanischen Führers, ist vielen Fernsehzuschauern von irritierenden Wahlkampfspots bekannt. Der ungeklärte Mord an dem schwedischen Ministerpräsidenten Olof Palme brachte die LaRouches weltweit in die Schlagzeilen. Überraschende Wahlerfolge 1986 im US-Bundesstaat Illinois machten die Weltpresse abermals auf die merkwürdige Truppe aufmerksam. Kampagnen gegen AIDS und Drogen, die Verteufelung der ökologischen Bewegung («Grün = Nazis») und ihr Feldzug für die Kernfusion erzielten publizistische und zunehmend auch politische Erfolge. Doch wer steckt hinter alldem? Die LaRouche- Mitarbeiter betreiben eine Abschottung wie Untergrundkämpfer im Widerstand gegen ein Terrorregime. Strengbewachte Gebäude, weltweite Kommunikationsverbindungen, konspiratives Auftreten - die Autoren Helmut Lorscheid und Leo A. Müller hatten es bei ihren Recherchen nicht leicht. Wer als «Gegner» der Organisation gilt, wird dauerhaft attackiert, verleumdet, ausgekundschaftet und mit übler Hetze verfolgt. Dennoch erteilen Innenpolitiker und Verfassungsschützer seit Jahren gebetsmühlenartig Unbedenklichkeitserklärungen. «Keine sicherheitsrelevanten Erkenntnisse», lautet die offizielle Meinung. In der Bundesrepublik ist - wie in anderen Ländern - nur ein Ausschnitt der LaRouche-Organisation bekannt: seit den siebziger Jahren die zunächst linksextreme, dann rechtslastige «Europäische Arbeiter Partei» (EAP) mit fast unveränderter Führungsriege um die Ehefrau des amerikanischen Führers, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, das 1984 gegründete «Schiller-Institut» und die «Bürgergruppe Patrioten für Deutschland», die ein Jahr später ins Leben gerufen wurde und als neue Partei bei der niedersächsischen Landtagswahl im Sommer 1986 kandidierte. Durch großformatige Anzeigen in auflagenstarken, überregionalen Tageszeitungen, Aufrufe mit teilweise prominenten Unterzeichnern aus dem rechtskonservativen Lager und aktions-orientierten Kampagnen auf Straßen und Plätzen vieler Großstädte sind diese Ableger des LaRouche-Imperiums vielen Bürgern aufgefallen.
