I was wondering if you could put this info in your newsletter or Sunday epistle. My parents, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Soulsby (long time members while living in St. Albans) have 2 plots in Cunningham Cemetery that the family will not be able to use. My remaining sibling and I will be bur- ied where we now reside. I have more specific info concerning location and pricing etc. Any help you can give in this matter would be greatly appreciated.     Specific Guidelines for Practice of Holy Communion for Online Communities Our Bishop of the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Sharma Lewis, has issued special guidelines for the partaking of Holy Communion for Online Communities. This is an allowance for these special times (pandemic) and is not a settled practice. The Guidelines are as follows: 1) Explanation – Pastor Clark Cundiff, as the presiding clergy, will explain that those participating in the practice of online communion is an extraordinary means for observing the sacrament and that it is only permitted for the present crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2) Service of Word and Table – The Communion liturgy found on page 12-15 of the United Methodist Hymnal – A Service of Word and Table II – will be used with the words provided to the Online Community (see Appendix). The bread and cup will be consecrated by Pastor Clark Cundiff for both the Online and In-person community simultaneously. 3) Elements – The preferred elements to be used are bread / crackers and grape juice. Before the service starts on Sunday, take the bread out of the container, place on the plate and cover it with a napkin. Second, pour the grape juice into your cup. Cover the juice with a napkin. The elements should have a sacred feel. - How do we administer and receive the elements? Once an ordained elder, has led you through the liturgy, prayed the prayer of consecration saying, “Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine.   • “The Great Thanksgiving,” Which Remind Us of What God Did for Us in Jesus
    The words we say in preparation are often called “The Great Thanksgiving,” which remind us of what God did for us in Jesus. It begins with a call and response called the “Sursum Corda” from the Latin words for “Lift up your hearts.” It is an ancient part of the liturgy since the very early centuries of the Church, and a remnant of an early Jewish call to worship. These words remind us that when we observe communion, we are to be thankful and joyful. The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. The next section is spoken by the clergy and is called “The Proper Preface.” It has optional words that connect to the particular day or season of the church year. We will notice that by the time this communion liturgy is over, it will have covered all three parts of the Trinity. This first section focuses on God the Father: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. The congregation then recites “The Sanctus,” from the Latin word for “Holy.” It comes from two Scripture texts: 1) Isaiah’s vision of heaven in Isaiah 6:3: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory,” and 2) Matthew 21:9, in which Jesus enters Jerusalem and the people shout, “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” These words remind us that through communion, we enter a holy experience with Jesus.

    PALM SUNDAY CEREMONIES An adapted version of the Solemn form without deacon or subdeacon with customs practiced by the Society of St. Pius X1 FOREWORD The Solemn form of the Holy Week ceremonies is the ideal method, but this is not always practical in a typical parish situation that lacks the requisite number of ordained ministers for the various positions.2 This fact was recognized and dealt with during the Holy Week reform, thus several options exist for rendering the ceremonies as solemnly as possible according to the situation, either per the Solemn, Semi-Solemn or Small Churches form. These notes outline a High Mass adaptation3 of the Solemn form, which is suitable for churches capable of rendering the ceremonies of Holy Week in a more complete manner than the simpler Small Churches form. A number of options are provided for rendering certain parts of the ceremonies, and these are also outlined within these notes.4 PERSONS NEEDED FOR THE CEREMONIES • Celebrant (C). • Masters of ceremonies (MC15 and MC26). • Thurifer (Th). • Crossbearer (Cb).7 • Acolytes (Ac1, Ac2). • Torchbearers (Tb); 4 to 8.8 • Boatbearer (Bb).9 • Sacristan.10 OPTIONS FOR THE PASSION READING Several methods exist for enacting the Passion,11 based upon whether it is sung or read, who are the ministers and which parts will they render. There are three parts for the Passion reading, the Christus (Christ), Chronista (Narrator), and Synagoga (the Synagogue). It is presumed that the Passion will be sung by three clerics who are at least ordained deacons,12 but this is not usually possible in a parish, hence outlined here are a variety of options: 1.
