4 Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary

Far Out Health Fair Engages Community In celebration of National Health Center Week, the Clinic held a Summer of Love Your Health Fair on August 19th at our Wallis Annenberg Children and Family Health Center. Over 400 patients and community members enjoyed the 1960’s theme, free health screenings, food, games, crafts, and music. The event was produced in partnership with LA Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. • 190 health screenings were administered • 27 new patient appointments were made • 6 new attendees enrolled in coverage

A Small Event for Enormous Gratitude On April 27th, more than 100 longtime supporters, community partners, volunteers, and local politicians filled the Penthouse at the London Hotel in West Hollywood to kick off the Clinic’s landmark 50th anniversary. The event provided an opportunity for the Clinic to acknowledge the countless contributions by such a passionate group and celebrate all we have achieved together to care for our community.

Saban Community Clinic was founded in 1967 as the LA Free Clinic, occupying a small storefront on Fairfax Ave. In 1975, the Clinic moved to its new permanent home on Beverly Blvd. In 1987, the Beverly Clinic began to rebuild the structure into the three-story facility we know today. It was an historic event officiated by Senator Ted Kennedy. Today the Beverly Health Center has seen hundreds of thousands of patients walk through its doors and needs a full renovation. With the demand for services growing, the renovation will increase clinical space, productivity, and efficiency to meet the needs of our community. We are scheduled to break ground in early 2018 and look forward to sharing our progress with you!

6 In Memoriam John Van de Kamp In 1977 the Clinic hosted its first Annual Dinner Roast, known today as our Annual Dinner Gala, and honored then LA County District Attorney John Van de Kamp. John served as the Attorney General of California for nearly a decade and devoted his life to helping the underserved in our community. John passed away on March 14, 2017. He was 81 years old.

Brad Grey Legendary Hollywood executive, producer and Clinic supporter Brad Grey passed away on May 14, 2017. Brad co-founded the Brillstein-Grey Entertainment agency with longtime Clinic supporter and 1987 Dinner Gala honoree, . In 2005 Brad became the chairman and CEO of , a position he held for more than a decade. In 2006 the Clinic had the privilege of honoring Brad at our 40th Anniversary Dinner Gala. With Brad’s steadfast dedication and support, the event was a huge success raising more than $2 million for the Clinic’s vital services.

Jerry Perenchio The Saban Community Clinic family mourns the passing of businessman and philanthropist Jerry Perenchio, who passed on May 24, 2017 at the age of 86. A generous supporter of the Clinic for nearly 30 years, Mr. Perenchio made a lasting impact on the lives of many individuals in our community.

Michael Ogiens Saban Community Clinic lost our dear friend, Michael Ogiens, who passed away on May 25, 2017. A dedicated volunteer, donor, and member of the Friends of the Saban Community Clinic Board for more than two decades, Michael committed countless hours to support the work of the Clinic. Michael first became involved with the Clinic in 1985 when we roasted Budd Grant, then President of CBS. He shared in our belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
