GONE BASS FISHING Levy Scott, Jr. is the founder and CEO of Osprey Bass Club. Levy was born and reared in Eufaula, Alabama. At the age of sixteen Pete Harris, a friend of Levy, introduced him to bass fishing. While serving in the United States Air Force at Charleston (South Carolina) Air Force Base Levy met his hero, Willie Walker, a well-known bass tournament angler in South Carolina. This friendship allowed Levy to gain a wealth of knowledge about the financial commitment of bass fishing, as well as, fishing and boating techniques. Later Levy joined his first fishing club, Star Lifter Bass Master Club and went on to qualify for the Six Man Team and fish in B.A.S.S. State Federation Tournament in Clark Hill Reservoir in South Carolina. In 1980 Levy won the Fourteenth Annual Trident Tournament, light line division with an eleven pound largemouth bass. Also, in 1980 Levy founded Eagle Bass Club, Eglin (Florida) Air Force Base’s first fishing club. He has served on Mann’s Baits and Humminbird Electronics Field Testers Staff. President of Osprey Bass Club and Osprey Fishing Organization. 6. What are your competitive fish experiences? All are competitive; I’m continuously trying to catch bass larger than the largest one I’ve caught, which was an eleven pounder I caught June 1980. 7. What is your favorite bait? Crank bait. Rigging technique, 7’ cranking rod, 5:1 reel, with crank bait attached to 12 pound test line. 8. What do you have in your tackle box? I have crankbaits, topwater, spinners, spoons, jigs, and soft plastic lures. 9. On average, how many days per year do you fish? 120 days. 10. What is your style of fishing? My style is “Run and Shoot” (cover lots of water). 11. What have you personally done to make fishing enjoyable for everyone? a. Mentored youth and adults b. Conducted youth fishing derbies c.
