    AKC Education Webinar Series: FSS/Miscellaneous Questions and Answers 1. Can an FSS Parent Club offer an ATT Test? If the Parent Club is licensed to hold any event, it may offer an ATT Test. 2. For a domestically evolving breed that started with an independent registry for 20 years, then accepted into UKC for an additional 20 years, can these two be combined to qualify for the 40 years required to be considered into FSS, or must the 40 be done within the same registry body? The history of a breed having a registry for a minimum of 40 years can be merged as described, staff will review to determine if it would meet the parameters required. 3. Does AKC have reciprocity with UKC? AKC has open registration with individual breeds with that are registered by UKC. A breed requesting to be enrolled in the AKC FSS based upon UKC recognition would have reciprocity, if it meets the number of years being in existence, until the breed becomes AKC recognized. At which time the individual breeds may request to keep the studbook open for UKC registered dogs. 4. Is it a good practice to submit all of the required data to AKC in one PDF electronically to FSS as a final submission, once all criteria is met for the ease of processing? The FSS Department keeps track of required data, meeting minutes maybe a PDF, the other requirements need to be in different formats. Breed Standard needs to be a word document, membership list needs to be in an Excel as provided.

    DOG MEAT TRADE IN SOUTH KOREA: A REPORT ON THE CURRENT STATE OF THE TRADE AND EFFORTS TO ELIMINATE IT By Claire Czajkowski* Within South Korea, the dog meat trade occupies a liminal legal space— neither explicitly condoned, nor technically prohibited. As a result of ex- isting in this legal gray area, all facets of the dog meat trade within South Korea—from dog farms, to transport, to slaughter, to consumption—are poorly regulated and often obfuscated from review. In the South Korean con- text, the dog meat trade itself not only terminally impacts millions of canine lives each year, but resonates in a larger national context: raising environ- mental concerns, and standing as a proxy for cultural and political change.     Veterinäramt Liste der Hunderassen nach Rassentyp Das Zürcher Hundegesetz vom 14. April 2008 (HuG) bedingt die Einordnung eines jeden Hundes zu einem Rassetyp. Grosse oder massige Hundetypen gehören zur Rassetypenliste I (§ 7HuG); Als Richtwert dienten dabei die Grösse (mindestens 45 cm Stockmass) und das Gewicht (mindestens 16 kg Körpergewicht). Hundetypen mit erhöhtem Gefährdungspotential gehören zur Rassetypenliste II (§ 8 HuG). Die weiteren Hundetypen werden zur einfacheren Abgrenzung als ‚kleinwüchsig’ benannt (§ 4 Hundeverordnung vom 25. November 2009, HuV). Die Bezeichnung der einzelnen Rassetypen und die Rassebezeichnungen wurden durch die zentrale Hundedatenbank (ANIS AG), dem Bundesamt für Veterinärwesen und den kantonalen Vollzugsstellen gemeinsam erarbeitetet. Diese Liste findet auch bei der Registrierung von Hunden und bei Vorfällen mit Hunden gesamtschweizerisch Anwendung. BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY: Taiwan Dogs are originally native Taiwanese dogs, descendants of the South Asian hunting dogs which ancient local inhabitants used to live with in the central mountainous districts. This breed was the loyal companion of the ancient hunter in the wild forest. Scholars from the National Taiwan University, Japan Gifu University and Nagoya University carried out a cooperative study in 1980 on the subject of the native Taiwan Dog. They visited twenty-nine tribes of local inhabitants and as a result, it was confirmed that the present Taiwan Dog is a descendant of the South Asian hunting dogs. This breed is now popular all across the island as a watch and companion dog. GENERAL APPEARANCE: Medium-sized dog with triangular head, almond shaped eyes, thin pricked ears and a sickle tail. Dry, sinewy and well balanced. IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS: Length of muzzle / length of skull = 4. 5 / 5. 5. Depth of chest / height at the withers = 4. 5 – 4. 7 / 10. Height at withers / length of body = 10 / 10. 5. Females are allowed to be slightly longer.
