ndian Naval Vessel Tarini I(INSV Tarini) entered Goa harbour and came alongside the INS Mandovi jetty on completion of a historic global circumnavigation voyage on May 21, 2018. The all-women crew of Tarini was received at the jetty by Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, the Raksha Mantri who had also flagged them off on September 10 last year. he Mechanised Reconnaissance TTroop / Platoons are "EYES AND EARS" of the Combat Group / Combat Team. These Reconnaissance Warriors are instrumental in gaining valuable information, which may turn the tide in battle for the Combat Group commander. He has also developed various systems namely Arjun ARRV, Arjun Catapult, Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) with all missions and demonstrated Carrier Command Post Tracked (CCPT). He was instrumental in successful design of Landing Gear for Rustom-II UAV, testing of prototypes for Limited Qualification Tests (QLT) and obtaining CEMILAC certification. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Technology Leardership Award 2017 was conferred on Dr P Sivakumar.

Shri YST Raju Scientist 'G' Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), Chennai has made outstanding contributions in the successful development of multi-disciplinary engineering sub-systems of Integrated Fire Control System for Arjun MBT Mk-II pratotype; successful trials of MBT Mk-I, development of electric turret drive and gun drive hardware for futuristic AFVs, and retractable landing gear for UAV RUSTOM-II. In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the Scientist of the year Award 2016 was conferred on Shri YST Raju.

Shri S Pazhanikumar, Scientist 'F', Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Chennai has made significant contributions in design and development of Arjun ARRV project. Also, considerable amount of Foreign Exchange has been saved by the scientist by developing this equipment without any foreign consultancy or any technology transfer and without compromising on overall quality & functional requirement of the product. In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the Scientist of the Year Award 2017 was conferred on Shri S Pazhanikumar.
