Have you ever thought about the fact that you cannot be unbaptized? That there is no ceremony that you can participate in that would reverse what happened at your Baptism? That is because Baptism is transformational and not transactional. When we are baptized we have been changed at the very core of what we truly are. It transforms us from creatures of God to children of God and that cannot be undone. Unfortunately, it can be easy to look at the faith we practice as a transaction: “If we do certain things God will allow us into heaven.” We may not think about it that deliberately but often we see it like some contractual situation. We may be much more comfortable with the concept of a transactional contract than we are with the idea of true transformation. In the transactional view God gives a certain amount of duties in order for us to fulfill our side of the contract and be allowed in to heaven. In the transactional we tend to see the faith as hoops to jump through. A major problem with a transactional view of our faith is that there is no fitting transaction we can offer. Even if we needed to earn heaven we couldn’t! Nothing we can do would be worthy of such a gift and such a mercy. Thankfully, God desires no contracts or transactions. Our faith is about Transformation, not transaction. God does not want you to earn heaven. He wants to change you into someone who can stand in His presence for eternity. If we surrender, God will slowly change us. When we see our faith as transformational we look at the true change of our hearts and wills rather than how many transactions we can make to earn grace. God’s desire is just so much more than a transaction. He desires only to make us into beings who can be in total intimacy with Him. We can keep kicking the can down the road and hope our transactions add up to heaven, or we can cooperate with the transformation and let God draw us in.

Meeting Notes from Fellowship Meeting, July 1 - Fidelity By Andy Giambroni and Ward Garner In the movie Fatal Attraction, the main actor, a married man played by Michael Douglas, and a single lady played by Glenn Close, had an adulterous weekend. Over the course of the movie, it becomes obvious how the lack of fidelity destroys an individual, a spouse, their children and society as a whole. The destruction caused by this one temporary lack of judgment, is devastating, especially to the children. Why? Where chastity is lacking, real love (charity) can’t exist with anyone. Practically speaking, we all know that infidelity or lack of chastity by its very nature is living a lie: deceitful, disloyal, and a form of betrayal. The effects of this dishonesty will decay and rot one’s soul! Infidelity and all forms of lack of chastity are just selfish acts. The question evolves to - what are we here for? Is it just self-pleasure at any cost or is there a higher purpose? Our higher purpose is to love God! In Genesis 39: Joseph rebuffed the sexual advances of a powerful, influential woman. Joseph wound up in prison because of it, and there he still found favor with the Lord. And the Lord filled his life with grace. He eventually ran the prison. So maybe, pleasing God is a much better purpose. So how then do we avoid the many temptations to chastity that we face every day? We discussed how you need to create and practice good habits that keep you in contact with those things that are most important in your life, like God, your spouse, and your family Here are a few practical ideas to grow in chastity: Work hard every day… be unserious, pray daily to resist lust and avoid its temptations. Consider the consequences of adultery. Avoid those situations that can cause temptation. Spend time each day thinking about how important to your salvation your family is to you. Open prayer everyday by being thankful. SPONSOR AND BAPTISM CERTIFICATE REQUESTS REGISTER NOW FOR SMALL GROUPS! On our website, we have added a new feature.
