Registered Professional Nurse (FlightNurse)

Position Overview: The Registered Professional Nurse (Flight Nurse) is accountable for the safety and care of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. This includes the provision of basic as well as advanced life support measures required to stabilize the critically ill or injured patient. The position requires proficiency in critical care and , aligned with the ability to adapt as necessary for the management of a patient or patients in the aircraft and during flight. The Registered Professional Nurse (Flight Nurse) must also be familiar with aircraft operating procedures, safety practices, and perform as a member of the Air Medical Crew. The ability to establish positive interpersonal and professional relationships is essential.

Position Prerequisites:

• NYS Registered Professional Nurse, B.S.N. • Three years current experience in adult critical care, emergency department, and/or related special care areas. • Current ACLS, BLS-CPR course completion upon hire date and PALS course completion is required within the first 6 months from date of hire. Mercy Flight provides training at no cost to employees if needed, after their hire date. • Patient transport experience preferred but not required. • ATCN completion preferred but not required. • Professional certification (CCRN/CEN/CFRN) is preferred but not required. • EMT/EMT-P certification preferred but not required.

Highlights: • Minimum per diem commitment is only 48 hours per month.
