State Board of Education New Mexico Educational Personnel Directory 2011-2012 Hanna Skandera Secretary-Designate New Mexico Public Education Department 1 INTERPRETATION OF DIRECTORY INFORMATION Explanation of School Codes School codes consist of four sets of numbers. For example, Alamogordo High School’s code is 46351015, or a combination of four codes: 46 35 1 015. The first two digits (46) represent the school district code for Alamogordo Schools. The second two digits (35) represent the county in which the district is located: Otero. The third one-digit code represents the type of school (1), public. The last three digits (015) identify the school building. The charts below list these codes. The individual school listings contain the number of students and teachers at each school. These figures reflect the membership on the 40th day of the previous year. The number of teachers includes all teachers, regardless of funding source, reported to the Public Education Department in the last school year. School Type Codes 0= Public School Central Office (0000) 5= Charter School 9= Institution of Higher Education 1= Public School 6= Special, State-Supported School K= Kindergarten 3= Private School 7= Regional Education Cooperative SE= Special Education County Codes NOTE: Some districts span more than one county. Districts that occupy a small area of the county appear in parenthesis. Because we are “The Gateway to New Mexico” for travelers on I-40 and US 54, and the intersection of State highways 209 and 104, we invite you to stop a while and “Experience New Mexico” in Tucumcari. As a city with lots of travelers, we also have five RV Parks for your convenience. You will find them listed in the Community Guide at the back of this brochure. Don’t miss the Mesalands Community College Dinosaur Museum, a first-class museum housing the world’s largest collection of spectacular full-scale bronze dinosaur skeletons cast at our local foundry. Stop by the Tucumcari Historical Museum with its storytelling exhibits, and visit the nostalgic New Mexico Route 66 Museum located on the south side of our convention center.
