Coming through the youth ranks of İzmirspor and part of their professional squad for three years, Hamzaoğlu joined Galatasaray in summer 1991. During his four-year stay, the right-footed left-winger won two Super League titles and a Turkish Cup. • Known as one of the most sporting players in Turkish football having been sent off just once, for Beylerbeyi in 2003/04 – his final season as a player. • Assistant to Safet Sušić during his spells at Turkish clubs Konyaspor, Çaykur Rizespor AŞ and Ankaraspor AŞ, Hamzaoğlu's first role as a head coach came at Malatyaspor before he worked at Eyüpspor and Denizlispor. • Achieved his major coaching breakthrough at Akhisar from March 2011. Hamzaoğlu managed to keep the struggling team in the first division and led them to Super League promotion the following season, ending tenth in 2012/13. • Hamzaoğlu left Akhisar to become assistant to Turkey coach Fatih Terim, a post he took in September 2013 and left in December 2014 to succeed Cesare Prandelli as Galatasaray coach, signing a deal until the following summer. Under his tutelage, Galatasaray won a Super League and Turkish Cup double in 2015. SL Benfica: Rui Vitória Date of birth: 16 April 1970 Nationality: Portuguese Playing career: Fanhões, UD Vilafranquense, Seixal Clube 1925, Casa Pia AC, GD Alcochetense Coaching career: UD Vilafranquense, SL Benfica (Under-19), CD Fátima, FC Paços de Ferreira, Vitória SC, SL Benfica • Born in Alverca do Ribatejo, in the Lisbon district, Rui Vitória spent the majority of his playing career as a midfielder with clubs from the Portuguese capital's metropolitan area. • Always plied his trade in the lower divisions and was a mainstay at Vilafranquense for nine seasons. After hanging up his boots at 32 in the middle of 2002/03, he began his coaching career immediately at the club, while simultaneously working as a PE teacher. • His first encounter with Benfica came two seasons later, as he led the Eagles' Under-19 setup for two years, a period which began his steady rise in Portuguese football. The first step was taken at Fátima in 2006, where his debut season was marked by promotion to the second division followed by immediate relegation, a journey repeated in the next two campaigns. • His good work led him to Paços de Ferreira in the top division. The first season ended with a seventh-place finish in the Liga and defeat by Benfica in the 2010/11 League Cup final. Sacked three games into the following season but only took a week to find a new employer, in the shape of Guimarães. • In four seasons at the helm of the Minho outfit, he made his name by building competitive sides with few resources, as well as detecting and developing young talents. His highlight was victory over Benfica in the 2012/13 Portuguese Cup final, only the second trophy in the club's history. On 15 June 2015, he was announced as Benfica's new coach on a three-year contract. 2 Galatasaray AŞ - SL Benfica Wednesday 21 October 2015 - 20.45CET (21.45 local time) Match press kit Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi, Istanbul Legend ALL-TIME STATISTICS The all-time record of the competing clubs in UEFA club competition.
