How many years have you been involved with GFC? I was a footy writer at The News and Sunday Mail Q / How many years have you been a member? 67 years. Q / when Glenelg won back-to-back flags in 1985-86 but my close involvement with the Bays started in 1994 Q / What positions have you held within the club? Supporter, Property Steward, Head Property Steward, when I was asked to help write the club’s history. I’m forever indebted to SA football historian John Wood Under 18 Team Manager for asking me to do it. Pride of the Bay came out in 1999 and its second version in 2003. There’s another Tigers book coming, too, with help from Andrew Capel, and Zac Milbank, and it’s coming for the club’s centenary. Q / What do you enjoy most about being a GFC Volunteer? Giving back to the club I love and watching juniors coming through such as Lachy Earl, Lachie Neale and Matty Snook. Q / What positions have you held within the club? I have been Glenelg FC historian since 2000. I became a part of the club’s first Hall of Fame selection committee in 2001 and am still a member of that committee. Q / Most memorable GFC moment? 1959 first Semi Final victory over Sturt and the 1973 Grand Final victory over North Adelaide. I also compiled the club’s Wall of Fame – the list of every player who has represented the club at league level that’s now in the foyer – and was on the committee for the new pickets when the players’ names were displayed on those. I am chairman of the club’s new history committee, which has nine other members (and Q / All time favourite GFC player? Neil Davies they’re all rippers) – Laurie Rosewarne, Tony Symonds, Andrew Capel, Zac Milbank, Mike Sexton, John

Members Feature Robinson, David Jenkins, Brad Shiell and Torrie Osborn. Q / What does GFC mean to you? I am now 70 years of age. I have followed the GFC since I was 4 years old (a total of 66 years). The club is my life. I played for the Glenelg Primary School and our home games were played on and our coach was Chooka May the Father of Ian May who played Q / What do you enjoy most about being a volunteer? The people. They are often fighting difficult odds but their passion for the task at hand never wavers as they all strive for the thing the club needs most – a flag.

Q / Most memorable GFC moment? The 2001 Glenelg FC Hall of Fame dinner at Football Park was a won- derful occasion. There were so many football greats and their families, along with supporters, together in one room and 25 of the club’s elite were inducted into the inaugural Hall of Fame. The fact so many great 2016 AJ WADHAM VOLUNTEER CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR clubmen and remarkable footballers missed out that year shows the quality of those who made it. Kate Williams Michael McFadyen Q / Most memorable GFC moment? Personally, having my daughter Allanah tell me that she wanted to be involved at the club and going on to be one of the trainers.

I predict my most memorable GFC moment will occur in 2018. TEN YEAR SERVICE AWARDS

Q / All time favourite GFC player? I would have to say my all time favourite player is Noel Lafsky, at player Kerry Donovan number 369 for Glenelg and also the 1953 Mail Medal winner with football club, Hatherleigh. Noel married Trevor Wortmeyer to my Auntie on my mother’s side of the family, but to be fair there are many great players at the Bay both Terry McAuliffe past and present that it would be so unfair to name just one as a favourite. Peter Dunn Gordon Anderson Q / What does GFC mean to you? A great Football Club with great people. Guy Dollman
