29th August 2018 Combined Club Event This week Yarra Bend members joined Rotarians from Camberwell and Cantergury for dinner at the Greenacres Golf Club to hear David Parkin OAM speak about his experiences, observations and what he has learned from his involvement in sport.

Directors Report Edda Williams Next week please bring any children's books (0-5y.o) in as new condition suitable for donation to support RC Glenferrie in their initiative for Boroondara Families. Board books, bath books or books for reading aloud to little ones. I'd like to start up a swap and buy table at meetings where you can bring anything you want to sell or swap. Put a $ amount on the item and proceeds go towards an agreed charity at the end of each year. It can be home made goods, 2nd hand items - whatever. Unsold items are taken home by the owner each week.

I'd also like to start collecting email contacts for: past YS participants and their families: RYLA,RYPEN, MUNA , Science Experience and Science forum, exchange students. Past speakers - David Shave - could assist with compiling names and contact details so that they may be added to our mailing lists and possibly have a night where we invite them all back for a "Where are they now?" night. Maybe also a "Friends of YBR" night? Please keep John Pocock busy with suggestions for weekly events and speakers.

We should explore the bike ride David Chivers proposed last year. Come with your ideas next week! With the multi-district conference on February 15-17th 2019 could members please consider if you have space to offer for billets.
