© 2019 JETIR January 2019, Volume 6, Issue 1 www.jetir.org (ISSN-2349-5162) Morphology and Adaptation of Immature Stages of Hemipteran Insects Devina Seram and Yendrembam K Devi Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab Introduction Insect Adaptations An adaptation is an environmental change so an insect can better fit in and have a better chance of living. Insects are modified in many ways according to their environment. Insects can have adapted legs, mouthparts, body shapes, etc. which makes them easier to survive in the environment that they live in and these adaptations also help them get away from predators and other natural enemies. Here are some adaptations in the immature stages of important families of Hemiptera. Hemiptera are hemimetabolous exopterygotes with only egg and nymphal immature stages and are divided into two sub-orders, homoptera and heteroptera. The immature stages of homopteran families include Delphacidae, Fulgoridae, Cercopidae, Cicadidae, Membracidae, Cicadellidae, Psyllidae, Aleyrodidae, Aphididae, Phylloxeridae, Coccidae, Pseudococcidae, Diaspididae and heteropteran families Notonectidae, Corixidae, Belastomatidae, Nepidae, Hydrometridae, Gerridae, Veliidae, Cimicidae, Reduviidae, Pentatomidae, Lygaeidae, Coreidae, Tingitidae, Miridae will be discussed. Homopteran families 1. Delphacidae – Eg. plant hoppers They comprise the largest family of plant hoppers and are characterized by the presence of large, flattened spurs at the apex of their hind tibiae. Eggs are deposited inside plant tissues, elliptical in shape, colourless to whitish. Nymphs are similar in appearance to adults except for size, colour, under- developed wing pads and genitalia. 2. Fulgoridae – Eg. lantern bugs They can be recognized with their antennae inserted on the sides & beneath the eyes. -

The analytical techniques available in modern spatial analysis packages, such as Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems, can help detect and model spatial links and correlations between the presence, absence and density of O. lybicus in response to climatic, environmental and human factors. The main objective of this paper is to review remote sensing and geographical information analytical techniques that can be applied in mapping and modelling the habitat and population density of O. lybicus in Oman. An exhaustive search of related literature revealed that there are few studies linking location-based infestation levels of pests like the O. lybicus with climatic, environmental and human practice related variables in the Middle East. Our review also highlights the accumulated knowledge and addresses the gaps in this area of research. Furthermore, it makes recommendations for future studies, and gives suggestions on monitoring and surveillance sites that are necessary in designing both local and regional level integrated pest management (IPM) policing of palm tree and other affected cultivated crops. -

A key to the genera is included and distribution records are provided at the prefecture level. Two genera (Baryproctus Ashmead and Dioxybracon Granger) are recorded for the first time from Japan, with the species Baryproctus barypus (Marshall) and Dioxybracon koshunensis (Watanabe) comb. nov. (= Bracon koshunensis Watanabe). The two species Stenobracon oculatus and Chelonogastra formosana are excluded from the Japanese species list. -

Bütün denemeler; 27±1 °C sıcaklık, % 65±5 orantılı nem, 14:10 (A:K) ışıklanma süresinin sağlandığı iklim odalarında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada; parazitoit-konukçu yoğunluğu, yetiştirme kabı büyüklüğü ve ergin beslenmesinin B. hebetor’un verimliliğine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Konukçu-parazitoit yoğunluğu denemeleri iki aşamada yapılmıştır. İlk aşamada 250 ml’lik kaplara 50 adet konukçuya bir, iki, dört ve sekiz çift parazitoit sunulmuş ve meydana gelen ortalama birey sayısı sırasıyla 60.6, 56.1, 79.6 ve 82.4 adet olarak tespit edilmiştir. İstatistik sonuçları, iki çift parazitoite 50 adet konukçu larvası sunulması uygun olduğunu göstermiştir. Konukçu parazitoit denemelerinin ikinci aşamasında 250 ml’lik kaplada İki çift parazitoite 10, 20, 30, 40 ve 50 konukçu larvası sunulmuş ve meydana gelen birey sayıları sırasıyla 26.40, 35.60, 60.00, 75.20 ve 60.50 adet olarak bulunmuştur. İstatistik sonuçları, iki çift parazitoite 30, 40 ve 50 adet konukçu larvası sunulması uygun olduğunu göstermiştir. Yetiştirme kabı büyüklüğü denemeleri; iki çift parazitoite, 50’şer adet konukçu, besinli ve besinsiz ortamlarda 250, 500, 750 ml’lik kaplarda gerçekleştirilmiştir. -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract A new scale insect, Aolacoccus angophorae gen. nov. and sp. nov. (Eriococcidae), is described from the bark of Ango- phora (Myrtaceae) growing in the Sydney area of New South Wales, Australia. These insects do not produce honeydew, are not ant-tended and probably feed on cortical parenchyma. The adult female is pupillarial as it is retained within the cuticle of the penultimate (second) instar. The crawlers (mobile first-instar nymphs) emerge via a flap or operculum at the posterior end of the abdomen of the second-instar exuviae. The adult and second-instar females, second-instar male and first-instar nymph, as well as salient features of the apterous adult male, are described and illustrated. The adult female of this new taxon has some morphological similarities to females of the non-pupillarial palm scale Phoenicococcus marlatti Cockerell (Phoenicococcidae), the pupillarial palm scales (Halimococcidae) and some pupillarial genera of armoured scales (Diaspididae), but is related to other Australian Myrtaceae-feeding eriococcids. -

Families, genera within the families and species within the genera are mentioned in alpha betical order. Oise amber has eight species, Baltic amber has 118 species, and Rovno amber has 16 species. Nine new genera and 18 new species are described from Baltic amber. Four new synonyms are noted: Palaeometrioxena Legalov, 2012, syn. nov. is synonymous with Archimetrioxena Voss, 1953; Paleopissodes weigangae Ulke, 1947, syn. nov. is synonymous with Electrotribus theryi Hustache, 1942; Electrotribus erectosquamata Rheinheimer, 2007, syn. nov. is synonymous with Succinostyphlus mroczkowskii Kuska, 1996; Protonaupactus Zherikhin, 1971, syn. nov. is synonymous with Paonaupactus Voss, 1953. Keys for Eocene amber Curculionoidea are given. There are the first records of Aedemonini and Camarotini, and genera Limalophus and Cenocephalus in Baltic amber.
