Three Promoted to Role of Associate Vice President

Dr. Gil Blackburn has been named Associate Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs; Jerome Scott has been named Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs; and Randy Kilby has been named Associate Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Planning.

Dr. Blackburn, who has served as Dean of Academic Affairs, is directly responsible for the academic program of the College. Dr. Blackburn is the key person for faculty recruitment and evaluation as well as determining the academic calendar, class schedules, etc. Academic department chairs, the registrar’s office, the library and the program for the handicapped report to the academic dean. Scott, who has served Dean of Student Affairs is responsible for the area of student development.

Scott has experience in the area of student affairs, having served as dean of student development at Morristown Junior College. At Gardner-Webb the area of student development includes the Dr. Gil Blackburn offices of student activities, residence life, counseling, campus ministry, athletics and safety and security.

Kilby has served as the Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Planning.

In his role, he is responsible for a staff of 10 persons. Student recruitment is one of his key areas. In addition, Kilby and his staff assist students through the entire application process, including acceptance and enrollment.
