The information published in the catalog is MiraCosta College story at effective for the academic year beginning with miracosta.edu/lizette the fall semester and concluding with the summer intersession. This catalog is effective fall 2015 through summer 2016. CATALOG RIGHTS The requirements for degrees, certificates, and general education may change during the time a student attends MiraCosta College, and these changes are reflected in the catalog. Catalog rights are established when a student first takes classes at MiraCosta College and are maintained through continual enrollment at the college. These rights protect students from being held responsible for changes made to their academic programs in the years that follow their initial enrollment. To be considered continually enrolled, a student must have received a letter grade (including “W”) for each semester. A one-semester leave, however, will not negate a student’s continuing status. The catalog used to determine graduation eligibility is the catalog operating at the time the student began continual enrollment at MiraCosta College unless the student’s petition requests a different catalog. The other catalogs that can be used to determine eligibility are catalogs in effect during the time the student has maintained continual enrollment at MiraCosta College or the catalog in effect during the student’s last semester of attendance at MiraCosta College. Students who need 6 or fewer units in order to satisfy all degree requirements may be evaluated under the original catalog that applied. STATEMENT OF ASSURANCE Every effort is made to ensure that the course information, applicable policies, and other materials presented in the MiraCosta College Catalog are accurate and current. In the event a correction or update is warranted, a catalog addendum will be published electronically and will be available for download as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file from the catalog website at catalog.miracosta.edu. At MiraCosta, that dedication is evident through the efforts of our faculty and staff, who strive to make all students feel welcome and engaged. Meanwhile, the college’s exemplary academic and career-training programs help students transfer to a four-year university or prepare for a career. And, our student services programs provide support in a number of areas, including financial aid, counseling, health services and more. Even our students themselves help make MiraCosta College special through their vibrant and active student clubs and leadership programs, which nurture our students’ creativity, expand their learning outside the classroom, and allow them to meet people from around the world. All-in-all, MiraCosta College is the place to be if you want to experience excellence. MiraCosta College is beginning its 81st year of offering post- secondary educational opportunities. THE MIRACOSTA HONORS PROGRAM PROUDLY PRESENTS The Virtual OMNI Research Showcase May 17-20, 2021 ~ACKNOWLEDGMENTS~ What a year! I would like to thank everyone who is presenting in our Spring OMNI week. It was an incredible challenge to get your presentations ready for the OMNI, but you did a great job. If this is your first conference presentation, I hope that you will want to keep sharing your knowledge and presenting at more conferences in the future. I would also like to thank the faculty mentors who have provided guidance to their student mentees. We could not have an Honor Program or an OMNI research showcase without you! Thank you for inspiring such creative projects and for your continual support of the Honors Program. As she gets ready to enjoy her retirement, I would like to specially thank Honors Dean Dana Smith for her leadership and support of the Honors Program during these difficult times. For over ten years she has guided our program with a consistent focus to always focus on the needs of our students. Susan Corley deserves all our thanks for her leadership behind the scenes. I am indebted to my incredible staff for their work on conference activities and the OMNI. Melina Sam, Christine Walsh, Rolando Pineda and Inayah Abdulmateen have all played instrumental roles as Navigators this semester helping us through these difficult weeks. I will especially miss Melina and Christine, my two Navigators of the Year, who kept our program running this whole year. I thank them all for serving as moderators for the conference sessions.
