IMMIGRANTS FROM ENGLAND 1800 - 1900 PROVINCE OF ONTARIO VOLUME 3 - HASTINGS COUNTY COMPILED BY RUSS WALLER INTRODUCTION CHOOSING A TITLE FOR THIS SERIES OF BOOKS WAS SOMEWHAT OF A PROBLEM. SINCE CANADA IS LEGALLY A BI-LINGUAL COUNTRY (ALTHOUGH ACTUALLY MORE AND MORE MULTI-LINGUAL) THE TERM "ENGLISH" CONNOTES LANGUAGE RATHER THAN ORIGIN, AND IS ALMOST ALWAYS USED TO DIFFERENTIATE FROM "FRENCH". IMMIGRANTS FROM ENGLAND WAS CHOSEN AS THE LEAST CUMBERSOME ALTERNATIVE TO ENGLISH IMMIGRANTS. THIS BOOK DOES NOT CONTAIN A FULL GENEALOGY OF ANY ONE FAMILY. IT IS INTENDED AS A FINDING AID, ASSISTING RESEARCHERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ATLANTIC TO DISCOVER EITHER WHERE THEIR ANCESTORS EMIGRATED TO OR WHERE THEY CAME FROM. IN MOST CASES, THEREFORE, NOT ALL OF THE KNOWN CHILDREN ARE INCLUDED IN THE "ISSUE" COLUMN. ALL THOSE BORN IN ENGLAND ARE LISTED, IN ORDER TO ASSIST ENGLISH RESEARCHERS TO IDENTIFY A PARTICULAR FAMILY, BUT, OF THE CHILDREN BORN AFTER EMIGRATION, THE ELDEST SON IS USUALLY THE ONLY ONE LISTED. A DAUGHTER IS LISTED IF THERE IS NO MALE ISSUE, BUT HER NAME CHANGE AT MARRIAGE MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TRACE HER. THE PROBLEM OF TRACING FAMILIES WHO MOVED ON FROM HASTINGS COUNTY WAS ASSISTED IN A FEW CASES BY THE ALL-ONTARIO INDEX TO THE 1871 CANADA CENSUS, COMPILED BY THE ONTARIO GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY. THIS INDEX IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE WORLD-WIDE-WEB. THE DATE OF ARRIVAL OF MOST IMMIGRANT FAMILIES IS, UNFORTUNATELY, NOT KNOWN, BUT, FOR THOSE FAMILIES LISTED IN THE 1901 CENSUS, A SPACE WAS PROVIDED FOR THE YEAR OF IMMIGRATION. NOT ALL FAMILIES TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT. A FAMILY'S PLACE OF ORIGIN IN ENGLAND IS SELDOM RECORDED IN THE CANADA CENSUS, BUT CANADIAN MARRIAGE REGISTERS AND VITAL STATISTICS RECORDS, WHERE THEY WERE AVAILABLE, HAVE PROVIDED SOME INFORMATION. IT IS HOPED THAT THOSE PERSONS WHO FIND THEIR ANCESTORS IN THESE PAGES WILL CONTACT THE AUTHOR WITH WHATEVER FURTHER STATISTICS THEY HAVE ASCERTAINED. DATA WILL BE INCLUDED AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED IN FUTURE PRINTINGS. Brunton, sp. nov. ) is the northern component of the riverbank Quillwort ( I. riparia ) complex. it is locally abundant in southeastern Ontario and southwestern Quebec and is also widely dis - tributed in the northeastern united States. in Canada, it is largely confined to river and lake shores along post-glacial drainage outlets within the limits of the post-glacial Champlain Sea. it is frequently found in association with other Isoetes , especially Dodge’s Quillwort ( I. × dodgei a. a. eaton), its sterile hybrid with Spiny-spored Quillwort ( I. echinospora Durieu). the Canadian population of I. septentrionalis appears to be stable. although first proposed at species level over a century ago, the nomenclature of this taxon has remained unresolved. it is clarified in the present study, in which I. canadensis var. robbinsii is lectotypified. It also gives references to published material held in the library The town of Manchester was granted a charter in 1301 but lost borough status by a court case in 1359. Until the nineteenth century government was largely by manorial courts. In 1792 police commissioners were also established for the improvement of the area of the township of Manchester.     Motion CW-304-2019 THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF PRINCE EDWARD By-Law No. 4553-2019 A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE THE EXECUTION OF A MUTUAL SUPPORT AGREEMENT WITH PARTICIPATING MUN?CIPALITIES OF PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, HASTINGS COUNTY, MOHAWKS OF THE BAY OF QUINTE FIRST NATION, CITY OF BELLEVILLE AND CITY OF QUINTE WEST WHEREAS, the Province of Ontario has passed an Act which provides for the formulation and implementation of emergency plans in "The Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, R.S.0. 1990, c. E.9". AND WHEREAS, the Act makes provision for the Council of a municipality to enter into an Agreement with the Council of any other municipality or with any entity for the provision of any personnel, service, equipment, or materials during an emergency; "The Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act,, R.S.0. 1990, c. E.9, s. 13 (3)". AND WHEREAS, for purposes of this agreement, Mutual Aid (Fire Services) is excluded and is covered under each party's individually approved "Mutual and Automatic Aid Agreements" AND WHEREAS, all participating member municipalities within Hastings County, Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation, The City of Belleville, The City of Quinte West and Prince Edward County, agree on the necessity and desirability of entering into an Agreement for the provision of mutual support to deal with emergencies.
