ASI Events Presents Papa Roach in Concert Feb. 25 at Rec Center

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Events and sponsor Icon Concerts are presenting Papa Roach live in concert at the Cal Poly Recreation Center on Friday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. The show will include special guests The F*Ups and Skindred.

Papa Roach, the Northern California alternative-metal group, recently released their third full-length album, “Getting Away With Murder.” The real power and passion of the new album comes from melody and vulnerability. The band says their rhythms on this CD are the heaviest and most groove-oriented to date and the choruses are filled with poignant vocal harmonies.

“Papa Roach is great in concert because they have so much energy and really involve the crowd,” said Gina Knox, student supervisor of concerts. “Part of the band’s appeal is their lyrics; my friends and I can really connect with what they are saying.”

Papa Roach garnered national attention in 2000 with their album “Infest,” which went triple platinum. Their most recognizable song from that album, “Last Resort,” quickly climbed to the top of the charts. From their formation in 1993 to the release of 2002’s “Lovehatetragedy,” the band was characterized by propulsive riffs, energized beats and communal rage. The group has transformed their style somewhat over the last few years and is now more upbeat and captivating.
