She recently made her Latin American debut at the Teatro Nacional de Panama. She has been a featured soloist with the Oregon Bach Festival, the University of Minnesota Bach Festival, the Bach Chamber Players of St. Paul, the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall, the California Chamber Symphony and the San Francisco City Chorus. Ms. Kauffman holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Maryland and recently completed her doctorate as a Berneking Scholar at the University of Minnesota.

Maria Lindsey, Soprano Maria Lindsey is excited to be back in Colorado performing with Cantabile. She most recently performed the role of Monica in The Medium with Opera Memphis. This past year Maria was seen performing as Frasquita in Carmen with Opera Omaha, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Opera Colorado. Past roles include soprano soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria with the Omaha Symphony, 30 Days of Opera with Opera Memphis, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with Opera Omaha and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro with Opera Omaha. She has been a participant in prestigious young artist programs with Opera Theatre of St. Louis in 2012, covering the role of Micaëla in Carmen and singing the role of the Rat Juror in Alice in Wonderland, and The Santa Fe Opera Apprentice program in 2011 and 2009, covering the role of Sardula in The Last Savage, Coryphée in Gluck’s Alceste and singing opera scenes from Gounod’s Romèo et Juliette and Handel’s Semele. This summer Maria will be a participant in Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

Zachary Averyt, Tenor Texas-born tenor Zachary Averyt made his operatic debut in 2001 as Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Averyt appears frequently in leading roles with Houston’s Opera in the Heights where he returned to sing Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni in January of 2014. He has sung the title roles in Haydn’s The Creation, Handel’s Messiah, J.S. Bach’s Magnificat, Saint- Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s , Rachmaninoff’s , and Carl Orff’s epic Carmina Burana. Mr. Averyt holds degrees from both the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, and was a 2013 Emerging Artist with Opera New Jersey. He currently lives and teaches privately in Houston and has served on the faculty of the American Festival of the Arts.

David L’Hommedieu, Bass Frequent appearances across the Front Range as a concert soloist have enabled baritone David L’Hommedieu to cultivate a diverse repertoire. A few recent solo performances include baritone roles in Orff’s Carmina Burana, Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs and Serenade to Music, Dvorak’s Te Deum, Amy Beach’s Canticle of The Sun, Barber’s Dover Beach, Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Messiah, Faure’s Requiem, and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. Just as at home on the opera stage, David has performed principal roles with Opera du Perigord, Loveland Opera Theater, Colorado Light Opera, The Hillman Opera, and numerous roles with CU Opera where he earned his master’s degree while studying with Patrick Mason. Mr. L’Hommedieu also regularly performs in recital, both locally with his recital company Phoenix Song, as well as nationally.

www.cantabilesingers.org Stella Pradeau, Collaborative Pianist Stella Pradeau has been Cantabile’s collaborative pianist since 1999. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a Master’s degree in piano performance in 1998. During her studies at CU, Stella was a teaching assistant and a winner of the Norris Piano Award. Studying under Angela Cheng, Stella was selected as a semi-finalist in the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in 1997. As an undergraduate, Stella was a scholarship recipient of Rotary International and studied music in . Presently Stella is a full time mother of three daughters, Chloe, Clara and Lily, and enjoys time at home with her husband, Francois.

Alejandro Gómez Guillén, Music Director The 2013-2014 season marks Alejandro Gómez Guillén’s third and final season with Cantabile in Boulder. He is also a Visiting Professor at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, and has recently accepted a permanent appointment at the same institution as Assistant Professor, Director of Orchestras and Professor of Violin and Viola, starting in Fall 2014. Alejandro was the Associate Conductor of the University of Colorado at Boulder Campus Orchestra, mentor and coach with the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras. He has also been Associate Conductor of the Boulder Symphony, Music Director of the Colorado Youth Philharmonia and the Mountain View Chancel Choir, as well as having conducted the Javeriana Symphony Orchestra, the Spokane Youth Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the CU Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. Solo appearances include Tolima Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and the Eastern Washington University Symphony among others. Recent engagements include the Eighth Santander Choral Festival, a residency with the flagship Batuta program in his native Colombia. He also recently led productions of Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Off Broadway School of Fine Arts in Boulder and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker with the Midland-Odessa Symphony Chorale and Ballet. He appeared as concertmaster of the opera orchestra at Amherst Early Music Festival under Gary Thor Wedow, and played in master classes for renowned baroque violinist Stanley Ritchie. He has also traveled to Germany and Italy as concertmaster of the Junges Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble with performances at the Rheingau Music Festival and the Philharmonie and has appeared as a member of the Festivalensemble Stuttgart with which he premiered the Robert Levin completion and edition of Mozart’s C Minor Mass in Austria and Germany. He has also appeared as leader and concertmaster of the CU Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Early Music Ensemble.Alejandro was selected to conduct public concerts of the St. Matthew Passion, the B Minor Mass, and the Christmas Oratorio at the Oregon Bach Festival where he studied with Helmuth Rilling over the course of three different summers. He returns to OBF in June 2014 where he will work with new Artistic Director Matthew Halls and Director Emeritus Helmuth Rilling as one of a handful of conductors selected to lead performances of Bach’s Easter and Ascension . Alejandro received a bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Texas Christian University where he studied with Curt Thompson and Michael Shih, and a dual master’s degree in Violin Performance and Orchestral Conducting from the University of Colorado at Boulder with Judith Ingolfsson, Lina Bahn, and Gary Lewis. His main conducting teachers include Helmuth Rilling and Nicholas Carthy and he is a doctoral candidate in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Colorado at Boulder under the tutelage of his mentor and teacher Maestro Gary Lewis.

Hannah was the Assistant Conductor of the University of Colorado University Singers and University Choir, starting in 2012, and has been Director of the Mount Calvary Festi- val Choir since 2010. In fall 2014, she will act as Conductor of the University of Colorado Women’s Choir, as well as directing the inaugural season of the University of Colorado Renaissance and Madrigal group. Hannah’s previous appointments include Director of University of Colorado Collegiate Chorale, Boulder Aria Singers, and the St. Martin’s Chamber Choir Mark Sheldon Conducting Intern. This year, Hannah co-founded the Summer Lab Choir, a new ensemble at the University of Colorado devoted to the devel- opment of undergraduate conductors. Recent engagements have included clinics with the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts Acad- emy Singers and Bella Voz, and workshops with ensembles around the area and through- out the country. Hannah received her Bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in Vocal Performance. In 2012 she received her Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting with a Vocal Performance Emphasis from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she studied with Dr. Larry Kaptein and Dr. Patti Peterson, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Colorado with Dr. Greg Gentry. Hannah is excited to be Cantabile’s Artistic Director beginning this fall.
