EXHIBITION PARK, FEDERAL HIGHWAY CANBERRA SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND MONDAY 12-14 JUNE 2021 ALL BREEDS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 2021 WINTER CLASSIC CLASSES TO BE JUDGED 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 18 (DOGS AND BITCHES) ACT LADIES KENNEL CLUB CANBERRA ALL BREEDS KC PRESIDENT MRS PAT BOWDEN MR STUART BARR SECRETARY MRS LINDA STEVENS MRS BEVERLEY BARR TREASURER MS MARCIA KINGSTON MRS PAT BOWDEN DOGS ACT REPRESENTATIVE MRS BEVERLEY BARR MR DAVID BEACOCK AGGRESSIVE DOG REPORTING It is the obligation of each owner, exhibitor and handler at a show to take all such steps as may be necessary to ensure that any dog under that person’s care or control or for which that person is responsible does not behave in an aggressive manner. It is the obligation of any person at a show who observes a dog behaving in an aggressive manner to report the incident either orally or in writing to a member of the Show Committee as soon as possible after the event This show is conducted under the Rules and Regulations of the Dogs ACT, a copy of which may be perused at the Secretary’s Office. The Club reserves the right to amend judging arrangements if necessary. The ACT Ladies Kennel Club and the Canberra All Breeds Kennel Club are delighted to conduct four All Breeds Winter Classic Shows in these challenging times. In order to conduct the shows our clubs are obliged to comply with certain COVID-safe conditions. We thank you for your understanding and for your good spirit in adapting to our necessary requirements. We thank the judges and stewards for their time, experience and knowledge and in particular the judges that stepped in at the last moment; we thank our exhibitors for their understanding of these difficult circumstances. We thank the hard working committee members who have provided time and support behind the scenes to ensure that the shows run smoothly. We would also like to thank our wonderful sponsors A La Carte, Eye Envy and, for CABKC, Show Ribbons Online. We encourage exhibitors to support these excellent companies. At this time we also remember the wonderful contribution that Mrs June Weston made to the dog world; Saturday’s show is a memorial show for June.   • Erskine Falls: a Crime Fiction Novel and Exegesis
    Erskine Falls: a Crime Fiction Novel and Exegesis By CHRISTOPHER MALLON Student ID No: 983478X Dissertation submitted as fulfilment of the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy (Humanities) Swinburne University of Technology March 2020 Abstract This practice-led PhD consists of two elements – a crime fiction novel titled Erskine Falls, and an accompanying exegesis that critically situates the author’s creative practice and the production of the text. Drawing on the traditions of hardboiled detective fiction and noir crime fiction, the novel negotiates the spectrum between these two sub-genres and explores a world which questions the many modern articulations of masculinity. Erskine Falls is a contemporaneously-set novel that follows a private eye who investigates the case of a missing girl who is from the affluent resort town of Lorne, Victoria, Australia. As the private eye moves through Lorne’s world of seaside wealth and tourism, he is simultaneously coming to terms with the post-industrial changes in his own home town of Geelong and dealing with a tumultuous relationship with his deceased business partner’s wife. His investigation eventually leads him into an underground world of criminality that belies the smiling touristic face of Lorne. The exegesis reflexively explores key writerly choices and focuses on genre, masculinity, voice, and place. Building upon the hardboiled and noir crime fiction subgenres, the project seeks to examine how the traditional hardboiled voice and its masculinities are negotiated within a contemporary, post-industrial regional Australian space. Using a practice-led methodology, the exegesis reflexively aims to situate the novel in a contemporary world through the subgenres of hardboiled detective and noir crime fiction.
