GW 74- SJU 65: Despite a strong start and a lead it held most of the game, Saint Joseph’s went cold from the field and committed key turnovers in the final minutes as George Washington rallied to win, 74-65. GW went on an 18-3 run in the final 6:56 while the Hawks were without a field goal during that span and committed four of their 20 turnovers. The second half was close all the way through, with the teams tied seven times. On six of those occasions when GW would tie the game, SJU would answer back with a big bucket by Pat Calathes, Rob Ferguson or Ahmad Nivins. After the seventh tie at 62-62, the Colonials took their first lead of the game on a layup at 3:20. GW went ahead, 68-63, and Calathes hit two free throws to pull the Hawks within 68-65 at 1:23, but a putback gave GW a 70-65 lead at :52. Calathes, who made six consecutive shots, finished with a career-high 21 points on 6-for-7 shooting. Ferguson added 14 and Nivins scored 12, with 10 in the second half.

SJU 84- Penn 74: Pat Calathes scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Ahmad Nivins had 19 points and eight rebounds as Saint Joseph's defeated Penn, 84-74, in a Big 5 contest at the sold-out Palestra. Rob Ferguson and Darrin Govens each had 15 points for SJU, which connected on 31 of 58 shots in the game (53.4 percent), led by Nivins, who hit 9-of-12 field goals. Penn held a 37-36 edge at the half, which saw nine lead changes with neither team gaining more than a five- point lead. Ferguson hit a 3-pointer three minutes into the second half to give the Hawks a 44-42 advantage, and they never trailed again. A layup by Nivins gave SJU a 58-49 lead with 10:20 to play, before Penn rallied to within 64-57 at the 7:23 mark. Nivins hit a layup to give the Hawks their biggest lead, 73-61, before the Quakers rallied to within 77-72 on a 3-point- er by Grandieri at the 1:50 mark, but another Nivins layup and two free throws by Calathes clinched the game for the Hawks. The victory was the 234th for Phil Martelli, tying him with Hall of Famer Jack Ramsay for sec- ond most wins by a Saint Joseph's coach.

Saint Louis 73- SJU 62: Saint Joseph's couldn't hold on to its late lead and Saint Louis defeated the Hawks, 73-62, in the team’s first nationally-tele- vised contest. Ahmad Nivins had 14 points, Rob Ferguson had 13, and Pat Calathes posted 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for SJU. It was his second consecutive double-double. The game saw 18 lead changes and Saint Joseph's took a 60-58 lead on a 3-pointer by Calathes with 5:59 remaining. But the Hawks would only score two more points the rest of the way on 11 possessions. The Hawks were outscored, 40-24, in the second half, while committing seven of their 10 turnovers in that period. Calathes had eight points and nine rebounds in the first half, while sparking a 9-0 Hawks' run to give SJU a 38-31 lead with under two minutes to play. A Saint Louis layup right before the buzzer pulled the visitors within 38-33 at halfitime. SLU got two quick baskets to open the second half and took its first lead, 50-49, at 10:23. Liddell's jumper at 4:05 gave the Billikens the lead for good as the visitors ran off eight straight points. SLU's largest lead of the game was the final margin. 2006-07 SAINT JOSEPH’S BASKETBALL - PG. 16 BOXSCORES 2006-07 SAINT JOSEPH’S BASKETBALL - PG. 17 BOXSCORES 2006-07 SAINT JOSEPH’S BASKETBALL - PG. 18 BOXSCORES 2006-07 SAINT JOSEPH’S BASKETBALL - PG. 19 BOXSCORES 2006-07 SAINT JOSEPH’S BASKETBALL - PG. 20 BOXSCORES 2006-07 SAINT JOSEPH’S BASKETBALL - PG. 21 BOXSCORES THE STAT CREW SYSTEM For Basketball Saint Joseph's Combined Team Statistics (as of Feb 01, 2007) All games RECORD: OVERALL HOME AWAY NEUTRAL ALL GAMES......
