Dogs have JOBS?

Herding Dog These dogs gather other animals into one area to help maintain control over them. They are used on farms, ranches and in large fields to round up animals such as and .

War Dog These dogs are used to help military personnel locate and/or identify bombs. They are also helpful in reducing stress and other symptoms of PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder experienced by some soldiers).

Detection Dogs These dogs are trained to use their instinct and sense of smell to identify foods, drugs, bombs, money and bugs. You have probably seen these dogs at police stations, schools and the airport.

Guide Dog These dogs are used to help people who are blind. These dogs guide blind people so they are able to walk in public places or around things without running in to them.

Tracking (Hunting) Dogs These dogs are used to sense, see and smell game for hunters. Hunters also use these dogs to retrieve the animals and bring them back to the hunter.

Sled Dogs These dogs work in a team to pull a sled carrying either a person, supplies or both through the snow. These dogs have the strength, instinct and a coat that allows them to do this job with little or no injury.

Family Dogs These dogs live among people (a family) and provide them a furry friend to play with, come home to and possibly even protect them.

Acting Dogs These dogs are trained to be actors or actresses for the movies, TV shows or plays. You have probably seen many of these animals on movies such as Lassie, Shaggy Dog, Max and many other.
