Previous meetings • The sides are meeting for the first time in UEFA competition. • Qarabağ won their only previous home game against Belgian opponents 1-0 – however they had lost the first leg of that 2011/12 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie against Club Brugge KV 4-1. • Anderlecht lost their sole previous match in Azerbaijan 1-0 – against Neftçi PFK in the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round – but had strolled the opening fixture 5-0. Form guide • Qarabağ have not conceded in their last four European home games (W1 D3), with three of those ending 0-0. • Anderlecht are without a victory in 11 European away matches (D6 L5) since a 6-0 success at FK Ekranas in 2012/13 UEFA Champions League qualifying. • This is Qarabağ's second UEFA Europa League group stage campaign; they narrowly missed the cut for the round of 32 last season, having become the second Azeri side to make it to a major UEFA group stage – after Neftçi in 2012/13 – and the first to actually win a group game. • Anderlecht advanced to the round of 32 in all four of their previous UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group phase campaigns, most recently in 2011/12. Trivia and links • The journey from Brussels to Baku is just over 3,650km, making this the longest trip of matchday two. • Anderlecht's Egyptian midfielder Mahmoud Hassan turns 21 the day of the Qarabağ game. • Qarabağ midfielder Reynaldo (in Brussels from 2008–13) and forward Samuel Armenteros (2013–15) both joined the club from Anderlecht, though both made just five league appearances for Les Mauves. • Qarabağ's Macedonian centre-back Vladimir Dimitrovski also plied his trade in Belgium with KVC Westerlo (2006– 07) • Qarabağ are one of ten domestic champions in this season's group stage, along with KF Skenderbëu (Albania), APOEL FC (Cyprus), FC Viktoria Plzeň (Czech Republic), FC Midtjylland (Denmark), KKS Lech Poznań (Poland), FK Partizan (Serbia), Celtic FC (Scotland), Molde FK (Norway) and FC Basel 1893 (Switzerland). The coaches • Qarabağ coach Gurban Gurbanov is still his country's highest-scoring international with 12 goals in 62 matches and played his club football in Russia and Ukraine as well as Azerbaijan. Coach since 2008, the former striker has led Qarabağ to domestic titles in the last two campaigns. • Previously assistant coach, Besnik Hasi assumed sole command at Anderlecht in 2014. Capped 47 times by Albania, Hasi's playing career took off after moving to Belgium in 1994, the midfielder winning a title with KRC Genk and another with Anderlecht, where he returned after ending his playing days at Cercle Brugge KSV. 3 Qarabağ FK - RSC Anderlecht Thursday 1 October 2015 - 19.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit Tofig Bahramov Republican stadium, Baku Team facts Qarabağ FK Formed: 1951 Nickname: Atlılar (The Horsemen) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • none Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) Domestic title: 3 (2015) Azerbaijani Cup: 4 (2015) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2013/14: play-offs 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2011/12: third qualifying round 2010/11: play-offs 2009/10: play-offs 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2007/08: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2006/07: first qualifying round 2005/06: did not take part in UEFA club competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 4-0: Qarabağ v Valletta FC 22/07/14, UEFA Europa League second qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 0-4: FK Banga v Qarabağ 30/06/11, UEFA Europa League first qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-4: Qarabağ v FC København 27/08/98, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup qualifying phase second leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-0: FC København v Qarabağ 13/08/98, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup qualifying phase first leg 6-0: Montpellier Hérault SC v Qarabağ 10/07/99, UEFA Intertoto Cup second round second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 4-0: Qarabağ v Valletta FC (see above) • Biggest away win 0-4: FK Banga v Qarabağ (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Qarabağ v FK Jablonec 30/07/97, first qualifying phase second leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: FK Jablonec v Qarabağ 23/07/97, first qualifying phase first leg RSC Anderlecht Formed: 1908 Nicknames: Paars-wit (Purple and Whites, Dutch), Les Mauves et Blancs (Purple and Whites, French) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (2): 1976, (1977), 1978, (1990) • UEFA Cup (1): 1983, (1984) 4 Qarabağ FK - RSC Anderlecht Thursday 1 October 2015 - 19.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit Tofig Bahramov Republican stadium, Baku • UEFA Super Cup (2): 1976, 1978 Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 33 (2014) Belgian Cup: 9 (2008) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup unless indicated otherwise) 2014/15: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League group stage) 2013/14: UEFA Champions League group stage 2012/13: UEFA Champions League group stage 2011/12: round of 32 2010/11: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2009/10: round of 16 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2008/09: UEFA Champions League second qualifying round 2007/08: round of 16 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2006/07: UEFA Champions League group stage 2005/06: UEFA Champions League group stage Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 9-0: Anderlecht v Derry City FC 23/11/65, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round first leg • Biggest away win 1-10: FC Haka v Anderlecht 14/09/66, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-5: Anderlecht v Paris Saint-Germain 23/10/13, UEFA Champions League group stage 0-5: Anderlecht v FC Bayern München 06/03/08, UEFA Cup round of 16 first leg • Heaviest away defeat 10-0: Manchester United FC v Anderlecht 26/09/56, European Champion Clubs' Cup preliminary round second leg UEFA Europa League/UEFA Cup • Biggest home win 6-1: Anderlecht v Leiftur 12/08/09, qualifying round first leg 6-1: Anderlecht v FK Sarajevo 24/11/82, third round first leg 5-0: Anderlecht v FC Tiligul Tiraspol 29/07/98, first qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 0-3 on five occasions, most recently v FC Midtjylland 14/11/02, second round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-5: Anderlecht v FC Bayern München (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 6-1: Real Madrid CF v Anderlecht 12/12/84, third round second leg 5 Qarabağ FK - RSC Anderlecht Thursday 1 October 2015 - 19.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit Tofig Bahramov Republican stadium, Baku Squad list Qarabağ FK Current season All-time UCL QUAL UEL League UEL UEFA No. Player Nat.
