Siemens has been a CEDA member since 2012. www.siemens.com introduction of the keynote Deborah Terry AO Vice-Chancellor, Curtin University Twitter: @CurtinUni Professor Deborah Terry was appointed Curtin University’s Vice-Chancellor in February 2014. She is currently Chair of Universities Australia and a Fellow and past President of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (ASSA). She is also a member of the Australian Research Council Advisory Council, Committee for Perth Board, St Hilda’s Anglican School Council, Australia and New Zealand School of Government Board and Australia's Academic and Research Network Board, and a past Chair of the Australian Research Council's College of Experts in the Social, Behavioural and Economic Sciences. Professor Terry completed her PhD in Social Psychology at the Australian National University in Canberra. She had a distinguished career at the University of Queensland, initially as an internationally recognised scholar in psychology, before progressing through a number of senior leadership roles, including Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor. She was made an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AO), the country’s highest honours system for achievement and service, in June 2015 for distinguished service to education in the tertiary sector. keynote address The Hon. Mark McGowan MLA Premier of Western Australia; WA Minister for Public Sector; State Development; Jobs and Trade; Federal- State Relations Twitter: @MarkMcGowanMP Premier Mark McGowan believes in the value of hard work and merit but very much supported by the values of equality, opportunity and compassion. He learned these values early, growing up in regional New South Wales. When Mark first moved West, he was struck by the magnificent climate, the unique natural environment and the opportunity that Western Australia provided to its people. He benefited from those opportunities and was determined to give something back to the home that had given him so much. Mark had an ambition to do what he could to make his local community, and Western Australia, a better place to live for all WA families. This led to his work in local and state government. Mark was the Deputy Mayor of Rockingham before winning the State seat of Rockingham in December 1996. He was Parliamentary Secretary to former Premier Geoff Gallop and has served as a Minister in the portfolios of Education and Training; Environment; Racing and Gaming; Tourism and South West. As the Minister for Racing and Gaming, Mark drove the small bar reforms which have liberalised Perth's entertainment scene. It could be argued that this policy
