DSWD DROMIC Report #2 on the Flashflood Incident in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur and Sibuco, Zamboanga Del Norte As of 21 October 2020, 4PM DSWD DROMIC Report #2 on the Flashflood incident in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur and Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte as of 21 October 2020, 4PM SUMMARY On 17 October 2020, a flashflood incident occurred in low-lying Barangays in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur and Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte due to continuous heavy rains brought by a Low Pressure Area and Southwest Monsoon. Status of Affected Families / Persons A total of 3,159 families or 14,342 persons were affected by the flashflood incident in 16 barangays in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur and Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte (see Table 1). Status of Displaced Families / Persons There are 44 families or 217 persons are currently taking temporary shelter inside St. Joseph catholic church in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte and Labuan elementary school in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (see Table 2). DSWD-FO IX DATE SITUATIONS / ACTIONS UNDERTAKEN • DSWD Field Office IX thru its Disaster Response Management Division, is continuously coordinating with CSWDOs of Zamboanga City and Sibuco regarding the status of the displaced families and any augmentation support 21 October 2020 needed. • DSWD Field Office IX thru its Disaster Response Management Division provided FNIs to the affected families amounting to ₱3, 985,293.33 ***** The Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) of the DSWD continues to closely coordinate with DSWD-FO IX for significant disaster response updates and assistance provided.     PREFACE In response to a request from the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, the Government of Japan decided to conduct the Study for the Socio- Economic Reconstruction and Development of Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao (SERD CAAM) under the Japan-Bangsamoro Initiatives for Reconstruction and Development (J-BIRD) and entrusted it to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). JICA selected and dispatched a study team headed by Mr. Tsuneo Bekki (in 2007), Dr. Hani Abdel-Halim (2007-2008) and Dr. Asaichi Miyakawa (2008-2009) from February 2007 to November 2009. The study team held close discussions with the people and officials concerned in the CAAM as well as stakeholders concerned to the study, and conducted study activities such as broad field surveys on Barangay level, implementation of On-the- Spot Assistance (OSA) and Quick Impact Project (QIP), constructions of three (3) Databases, and formulation of the Socio Economic Development Plan (SEDP).
