2020 Santa Barbara Orchid Show Special Offering “The Show That Wasn’t” is what people are calling the 2020 International Orchid Show now. What happened? Most of you know by now that the exhibits were set up, the judges had clipboards in hand, and then the word was delivered by the Governor of CA at 11:45 p.m. that there were not to be gather- ings of 250 or more and that State facilities were to be shut down. Our show is held at a State-owned building and hosts 10,000 visitors so the Show’s Board of Directors held an emergency meeting at 8:30 a.m., following the declaration to discuss our options. There was no way around it, in the interest of health, safety and State mandates, the show had to be shut down. It was our 75th show anniversary and the displays were awesome. Pictures are on the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show website.

Then what? Our triple sales booth down at the show also was closed down. The nursery stayed open for the weekend and we are so appreciative of those dedicated growers and friends who came out to the nursery and stood patiently in line with boxes of in their hands. It was gratifying to see, that’s for certain. We had no idea what to expect. For those who could not visit in person, we’ve decided to showcase a portion of the good deals that were featured for the big weekend. We think you will enjoy the great prices! Thank you for your loyal patronage, and we sincerely hope you find a few more new things to add to your collection.
