Parish Pastoral Council Meeting Wednesday, November 18, 2020

Meeting was called to order by Mark Bierman; prayer was led by Fr. Burkhalter. Members present were Fr. Burkhalter, Teena Jones, Mark Bierman, Joy Loschen, Tim Vetick, Cathy Wadas, Jeff Greisen, Matt Niedbalski, Bill Shanle. Jackie Herink, was excused. Tim Vetick motioned to approve the evening’s agenda; Jeff Greisen seconded. Matt Niedbalski motioned to approve October’s meeting minutes; Joy Loschen seconded.

Committee Reports Finance Committee – Frances Veseth reported. All normal in this area.

PRE – No report.

St. Anthony School Board – Cathy Wadas reported. No Covid-19 cases reported as of meeting date. Everyone continues to try to keep as much as normal as they can during Covid-19 pandemic. School will be closed the week of Thanksgiving. Columbus Telegram covered our pumpkin display.

Maintenance – Tim Vetick and Jeff Greisen reported. McGill Restoration’s brick repairs have been completed. Upon closer viewing allowed with gutters down it was found to be less severe than quoted. Cost was reduced based on less repairs needed. Railroad ties surrounding school play area are being addressed for repair or replac- ing as applicable. Concerns regarding attention of current sanitation service were discussed and will be moni- tored. School boiler being rewired. Discussion on age of current boiler and anticipation of future care.

Pastor’s Comments – Fr. Burkhalter reported; there were 1 baptism, 3 deaths, 0 marriages, 1 newly registered parishioner, and 0 parishioners have left. Fr. Burkhalter expressed his thanks to the school and PRE staff’s efforts cleaning while keeping the children and staff safe. Fr. Burkhalter also expressed his thanks to the Facebook, video and PC support for their efforts giving parishioners access to safe distancing worship and to those of the Parish Council for cleaning after each Mass.

Old Business Corona Virus Update – Fr. Burkhalter reported; we continue to adhere to DHM ordinances. It was noted the seriousness of Covid-19 as communicated by the Governor. Fr. Burkhalter will communicate any changes in St. Anthony directions as they happen with website, bulletins and Mass announcements.

Bazaar Challenge – Fr. Burkhalter reported. Net profit as known at meeting time is shown to be $104,929.40. Drawing was held live via Facebook and winners have been notified.

Rural Leadership – Fr. Burkhalter reported. Meeting was live streamed and recorded on November 14th by the diocese. Fr. Burkhalter was unable to attend but will view recording.

Archdiocese Annual Appeal – Fr. Burkhalter reported. We are at 89% of monetary goal and 17% of participa- tion goal. Participation is counted by either prayer time or monetary donation so everyone is encouraged to re- turn their pledge cards to be counted towards St. Anthony’s participation goal.

Matching gift for paving parking lot – Planning for this project will be moving forward. Fundraising and match- ing gift potential will be done after the holiday season.

New Business Roping of Pews Offer – Fr. Burkhalter reported. An offer of donated time and supplies has been given to replace the current pew tape with a more attractive rope system. This was approved to be accepted.

Advent Reconciliation – Fr. Burkhalter reported. This is pending and a decision will be announced once decided.

Christmas Masses/ New Year’s Masses – Fr. Burkhalter reported. At meeting time, they are still anticipated to happen with the same schedule as last year. A final decision will be posted in the bulletin.
