Transcendence-2018.indd 4 5/29/18 4:43 PM BEST LETTER FROM THE LIFE CO-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS EVER

When you walk into the winery ruins of Jack London State Historic Park, you’re not only walking into the historic space Jack London shared with visionaries, artists, and leaders from all walks of life... You’re walking into the home of Transcendence Theatre and the rich and vibrant energy where we’ve created thousands of magical moments together over the last 6 years. Together we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve celebrated, and we’ve had so many memorable moments take our breaths away...... we’ve seen meteor showers punctuating our high notes …we’ve seen community members coming together to save this park, and then each other throughout the fires …we’ve celebrated 80th Birthdays, Marriage Proposals (she said yes!), a 75th wedding anniversary and many more moments together. Transcendence’s 2018 season theme is Every Moment Counts. It’s a simple yet direct message that encourages us all to live each moment deeply, be open to the magic of life, seize opportunities, and celebrate them together. This summer we encourage you to make the moments count and to live them full force... Fill your heart in song and celebrate what it means to be alive, hug your loved ones and tell them you love them, do the difficult thing when it’s the right thing to do, and weave your own beautiful story from the meaningful moments in your life. Imagine what’s possible if we make every moment count… is there more magic, more love, and more togetherness awaiting us? We’re excited to engage and inspire you all summer as we explore these questions through song, dance, and our moments together in the vineyards and under the stars. Welcome to our 7th Season of Broadway Under The Stars. Are you ready to have the BEST SUMMER EVER!?

“This day I will make the best day of my life. This day I will drink every minute to its full. I will savor its taste and give thanks. I will maketh every hour count.” — Og Mandino

JACK LONDON & TRANSCENDENCE UNITED THROUGH A SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE

Jack London was, no doubt, a trailblazer. In addition to his literary masterpieces, he was a pioneer in sustainable farming and animal husbandry, a supporter of the Little Theatre Movement, and was a critical personality within the Carmel arts community. He also brought countless guests of all sorts to these very ruins to discuss life and art, and commune over the human experience. Here at Transcendence, we look to inhabit these principles in our work both on and off the stage. We see art as the great connect or of ideas, philosophies, and personal and global evolution. We believe that bringing a community together creates a single and communal mind greater than the sums of its parts. We are so thankful to Jack London Park Partners, California State Parks, and the entire community for everything that we have been able to accomplish. Together we look to carry on the legacy of Jack London as we pioneer evermore toward a bountiful future for each and every one of us.
