Hera, queen of the gods, grew angry. Her fury grew like a fire in the forest and soon turned her rage on Callisto. The goddess turned Callisto into a bear who could not take care of her human son. Sadly, Callisto left her baby with a hunter, who treated the boy like his own son.

One day, when Callisto’s son was out hunting, Callisto saw him in the distance. She was so happy to see her son that she ran toward him. Not knowing the bear was really his mother, the young hunter prepared to shoot the charging animal. Callisto tried to call out. Too late, her son realized the bear was really his long-lost mother.
