The request was approved by Sen. Dorgan and forwarded to the USDA Economic Research Service. The amount of the request was $304,464.

2004, Modeling Change in Rural Community Networks, Lana Rakow and I submitted a proposal to the National Science Foundation. The total amount of the request, for three years, was $737,190.

1998, Commission on the Future of Agriculture Technical Assistance & Facilitative Services Contract. Delore Zimmerman of CEO Praxis and I submitted a proposal to provide technical assistance and facilitative services to the commission.

1994, Cooperatives, Rural Development and Entrepreneurial Social Infrastructure. I submitted a proposal to the Graduate School’s RFP for Summer Professorships to conduct a case study of the role of cooperatives in development.

1994, Cooperatives, Rural Development and Entrepreneurial Social Infrastructure. I submitted a proposal for $54,402 to the National Science Foundation’s Quality Organizations RFP.

1994, Section 8 Fair Market Rent Survey. I submitted a proposal for $6110 to the Grand Forks Office of Urban Development – Community Development and Housing Authority for the Fair Market Rent Survey – Section 8 Existing Housing Program. I submitted a revision of the proposal in September.

1993, State Demand and Needs Assessment Studies: Alcohol and Other Drugs. In conjunction with the Department of Social Work, I submitted a grant to the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. My portion of the proposed three-year research was $1,367,059.

1993, Health Insurance Status of North Dakotans. I was requested to develop a proposal to conduct a telephone survey of North Dakotans regarding their health insurance. The Health Insurance Study Consortium consisted of the North Dakota Insurance Department, the North Dakota Health Department, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Dakota, and the North Dakota Health Task Force. I submitted a bid of $35,256 to conduct the survey.

1993, Pre-proposal for Economic Conversion Planning submitted to the North Dakota Peace Coalition. The ND Peace Coalition contacted me for assistance in developing a pre-proposal to submit to the Peace Development Foundation. I submitted a proposal for $12,000.

1993, Visitor Profile, Market Research and Economic Impact of Tourism in North Dakota. A bid of $84,226 to the ND Department of Tourism to conduct a visitor profile, market research and economic impact of tourism study in North Dakota.

1994, Cooperatives, Rural Development and Entrepreneurial Social Infrastructure, A proposal to the USDA’s Cooperative State Research Service (CSRS). It was one of three proposals selected by Red River Trade Corridor to submit to CSRS.

I was requested by the ND Attorney General’s Office to be an expert witness on the social justifications for the corporate farming law in the following cases:

My research for the N.D. Attorney General’s Office (Industrialized Farming and Its Relationship to Community Well-Being: An Update of a 2000 Report by Linda Lobao), as well as a journal article (The community effects of industrialized farming: Social science research and challenges to corporate farming laws), and an encyclopedia article (Industrialized Farming and Its Relationship to Community Well-Being) were entered as evidence by the state in the cases. I was never deposed or called to testify.
