The system had to have ’personality’ and should be integrated into the building, creating a ’living’ façade.

The ’invisible vents’ make the Hansen CellGlazing™ system ideal for both large and small façades when there is need for bringing fresh air into the building from the outside. When the vents are closed, the façade has an uninterrupted and harmonic appearance, whereas the façade comes alive when the vents are open, drawing the external environment into the heart of the building. The external frame around each pane of glass, both in the fixed and opening sections, creates a cell effect which is beautifully integrating the façade with all types of buildings.

4 5 Fantastic Characteristics

Hansen CellGlazing™ is a modern curtain wall system for all façade types. The external cell struc- ture, the slim box and T profiles, are together with structural concealed tension rods ensuring a slim and homogeneous appearance.

The façades come with an option of single, double or triple glazing. Hansen CellGlazing™ is offering the lowest ever U-values for façade constructions, with maximum light transmission and extremely good G-values that meet customers’ requirements.

Hansen CellGlazing™ is a unique profile system offering several advantages, such as:

- The only system with cell effect, with a symmetrical ’picture frame’ aspect around each fixed and opening glazing vent - Minimal profile thickness - Concealed hinges and vents - Maximized light transmission and optimized G-values - Variable, concealed turn/tilt fittings are replacing visible ventilation grilles in the window frame, retaining thermal and acoustic integrity - Patented system with concealed tension rods allows for a larger span of façades - Integrated 100 per cent thermal break ensures maximum thermal insulation from synergy with ”warm-edge” technology - Concealed drainage - no PVC cover caps, which are renowned for becoming displaced - Concealed telescopic friction stays to keep the vents in any desired opening position.

Surface finishes: are available either in an anodised finish or in a range of polyester powder coated finishes according to requirement. Dual colour options on internal and external surfaces are available.

Hansen CellGlazing™ is 100 per cent compatible for any other Hansen system, offering doors and windows for any function and purpose.

All façades/curtain walls are CE-certified according to European standards EN 13830. Hansen CellGlazing™ has been tested at leading institutes in Europe, IFT Rosenheim in Germany, and the Technological Institutes in according to EN 13830, and comply with the guidelines laid down by the CWCT at Wintech in England.

Vaardcentralen, Huskvarna

Architects: Gunilla Gustafsson, Håkan Albeman Creacon AB

Client: Landstingsfastigheter

Building Contractor: PEAB

Profile system: Hansen CellGlazing™

Each day, 700 people visit Huskvarna Vaardcentrum, where 150 employees in the Land- stinget, the Council, and the Pharmacy are co-operating to service the 23,000 inhabi-tants of Huskvarna within the health sector.

The first impression of the 10,000 square meter big and 6 storey tall building is the large glass façades which are suspend- ed over the entrance leading to the underground parking facility. Many visitors take the lift from the basement to the hall, which is very welcoming with its large glass sections, leaving a remark- able impression of openness and light. The entrance area stretches from the basement level right up to the roof. The 5 storey tall area is full of light and fresh air and comprises the reception desk to the lab, rehabilitation centre and the pharmacy.

Access to the individual com- panies has been the key factor for the design of the building. Access, working environment, welfare and a flexible, healthy indoor climate were important criteria.

Due to the client’s, Landstings- fastigheten, environmental policy, it has been of great im- portance to use natural and environmentally-friendly materials. 14 15 The Building

On the ground floor the 5 storey tall façade creates an impression of light, air, and space.

The façades are characterised by the large glass sections, rendered walls and granite plinths, and a few wooden vents. Visible roof areas are planted.

The building has been awarded Stadsbyggnadsnämden Jönköping Stadsbyggnadspriset 2005

The verdict of the jury: The building is characterized by a light rendered wall with wooden vents. The building has large inviting glass façades towards the surrounding roads and the new square. In the building there has been created a large entrance room for all visitors in the shape of a covered patio with glass sections across several floors, providing light and a lot of space. The whole space can be viewed from the beautiful free-standing staircase, leading to foot bridges with a magnificent view for all the visitors. The thoroughly planned architecture in the building, indoor as well as outdoor, contributes to an excellent working environment.

The buildings on Jens Christian Skous Vej in Aarhus is a fine example of utilizing Hansen CellGlazing™.

The classic modern brick building contains offices for various companies and is also part of Aarhus University.

Large staircases and noise barrier walls connect each individual building. The use of Hansen CellGlazing™ helps create unity in the whole building.

The distinct cell effect and the concealed vents opti- mize light transmittance and integrate the large façades into the buildings.

Discreet fittings for chain motor and point holders bring nature right into the building.

The minimal, slim frame profiles in the vent are distinct.

Campus Varberg is centrally situated close to the harbour area and close to the fortification of Varberg.

The architects have con- centrated extensively on light transmission through large glass sections. As a red thread in the project, the architects were inspired by the view of sea and light in their colour choice. The colour scheme varies from turquoise blue to green. The colours are often mixed in the individual rooms, which contribute to creating a living impression. In rooms with curtains the colours are transparent so that the light transmission is in contact with the outdoor environment. Patterns and colours have got inspiration from the sea.

In 2005, the project got the Architecture Award of the Region of Skåne because the open square space connects the new buildings in Norra Harbour with the city centre, and creates a natural pedestrian link. The openness of the square allows movement in all directions. The small, yet noticeable hollow and the circular shape intensify in small details the experience of the square and are contributing to the creation of an important central meeting place.
