We are delighted to report that the Referendum events on the Joint Wootton and St Helen Without Dear Editor Neighbourhood Plan on 24 October strongly endorsed the Plan with 89% voting in support of P3: What’s on in the Community SMALL HORIZONTAL the Plan. This is a major achievement for our area P4: Abingdon Area Neighbourhood Policing ADVERT and our community. Both councils have congratulated the Steering Group for the immense P5: St Peter’s CE Church Update 6.8cm width, 2.9cm depth amount of work undertaken over the past 3 years Cambridge Expressway (19.72cm²) approx. and the professionalism of the team. Now that the P6: St Helen’s Church news Plan has been made the Steering Group has Jumble sale extra been dissolved. P7: Wootton Warblers

What does it mean in practice? Now every P15: Friends of planning application in the of Wootton and St Helen Without must adhere to all the P16: What’s on in the community this policies in the Neighbourhood Plan as well as month? policies in the District Council's Local Plans Parts 1 and 2.

The Neighbourhood Plan gives protection to various Local Green Spaces across the two parish council areas and, in particular, it provides for a western buffer zone between development on Abingdon Airfield and the village of Shippon.

The Neighbourhood Plan now belongs to both parish councils and their duty is to implement not only the planning policies but also to action the various potential community projects that came out of the extensive consultation with the community. This will be a major task and of course will depend on the continuing support of residents and seeking funding from various organisations. In addition, the Plan will be under constant review by the parish councils to monitor if any of the policies need updating in a future Plan.

The parish councils recognise that a number of residents did not support the current Neighbourhood Plan at the Referendum. They are keen to hear from anyone who did not support the Plan to see if there are any issues which could be addressed now or in a future Plan: Please contact the Wootton Parish Clerk at [email protected].
