Hellaby Ward Profile 2019

Description Hellaby ward lies in the east of with a population of 11,140 (2017) and an area of 908 hectares. In the west of the ward are those parts of Wickersley and Bramley to the south of Bawtry Road. East of the M18 motorway is the parish of Hellaby with a population of approximately 830 people and the location of a large industrial estate. Further east are the western suburbs of Maltby (parish) which are a mixture of modern housing estates and a more established residential area including council housing.

The ward also covers parts of the Wickersley, Bramley, Maltby parishes. Hellaby has a high proportion of owner occupied housing and few rented homes. The ward is one of the least deprived in the borough and has only a few pockets of deprivation, such as in south west Maltby.

The fact that the population has barely changed despite substantial new housing indicates a significant decline in average household size with more people living alone or in smaller families.

An exception is the Addison Road area of west Maltby which is the most deprived part of the ward, where deprivation is similar to the Borough average. Deprivation is below the national average in north west Maltby, Hellaby, south Bramley and south west Wickersley. The least deprived area is south Wickersley which is the least deprived area in the Borough and amongst the 5% least deprived areas in England.
