In August 2019 the Parish Council made a donation of £5,000 to Plane Justice (PJ).

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) stated they are due to undertake the Tailor Made Pet Services requisite comparison in September 2019 after the old conventional route 4 has been republished. If replication has not been achieved between the two Cat Sitting, Dog Walking routes then the CAA foresee no reason why cancellation of the current RNAV- and More! 1 route cannot meet the next aviation publishing cycle (known as AIRAC), Qualified, experienced, insured, which would mean the current RNAV-1 route would be cancelled on 5 DBS checked, award winning, great reviews. December 2019. That would then mean aircraft, as from 6 December 2019, would fly the old conventional route (effectively the route that was being flown in 2012) which is due to become effective as from September this year.

It can be very confusing for the layman but it is clear to us in the community that the two routes the CAA now have to compare are very different, and the anticipation of Gatwick, and as echoed by the Department for Transport, is that the CAA are bound to reach the same conclusion too, i.e. that replication 07958 706832 has not been achieved, thereby leading to the cancellation of the current

[email protected] route as above. As a result, PJ now have every expectation that Route 4 will return to something very close to its 2012 (pre-PRNAV) position in December www.AmityPetCare.co.uk 2019.

The activities PJ are likely to have to engage in over the next six to twelve months include amongst others: - 1. Liaison with Gatwick, airlines, MPs, Councils and communities to see the interim solution is delivered in a well informed and orderly fashion. 2. Monitoring for ‘slippage’ by the CAA and other decision makers delivering the interim solution and if so, taking further action if appropriate. 3. Further engagement with Gatwick’s 2018 Route 4 Airspace Change Process (ACP), which is scheduled to complete in 2021 4. Engagement with the second term of the NMB, as well as other Gatwick strategic committees such as GATCOM & NATMAG.

This second instalment of £5,000 from the Parish Council enables PJ to maintain the momentum they have achieved in pursuit of the common goal. Items 1,2 and 3 above are to enable PJ to keep the pressure on to make sure our residents get, as close as possible, to what we want. Item 4, which supports items 1 to 3, enables PJ to have strategic engagement with these committees. The bulk of Route 4 after the turn is in our parish which is why we support PJs’ efforts. This financial support serves the purpose of getting Route 4 back to the legacy position. The Parish Council thank Plane Justice for all their hard work and determination on an issue which affects our whole community.

Great news! The work to our new hall has started and over the summer everything was stripped out in preparation for the renovation. We have been so lucky to secure grant funding from the Revive Reuse shop at Tip, Gatwick Airport Community Fund and Salfords and Sidlow Parish Council.

We were also successful in our bid for a grant from the Community Big Build Project run by Gatwick Airport leading to a complete refurbishment of the hall. It will be stripped back to a shell and rebuilt with a zero-carbon footprint, and will use recycled rainwater to flush toilets, etc. The project started in early September and will take approximately 8 weeks.

We really appreciate all the volunteers who have stepped up to help with this project and look forward to celebrating the new opening. Below are a couple of pictures – next instalment when all the work has been done. Exciting times ahead.

Our parish has one railway station and the more urban parts of the parish are well served by buses.

Trains Currently the majority of train services serving Salfords are provided by Thameslink and principally run between Bedford & Gatwick at 30 minute intervals. The rush hour services also have Southern trains to London Victoria from Gatwick with a portion from Reigate attaching at Redhill. Evening peak services run to Three Bridges after calling at Gatwick.

Many think that the current service levels are the best for many years going back to the 1960’s. More recently Salfords only had a limited peak hour service, off peak was not provided as ‘the fares earnt did not even pay for the wear on the brakes when calling at Earlswood & Salfords.’ said British Rail people.

The all-day Thameslink services from Salfords provide direct links to St Pancras International with easy connections to Eurostar for Paris, Brussels, Lille, Disneyland Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the South of France, and Calais, plus currently onward connections to most of Europe. I have travelled Oyster machine at Salfords from Redhill to Paris using Eurostar and the ‘on trains time’, ignoring check in times etc, is just under three hours.

We also held our annual litter pick with many residents joining in and helping us collect over 30 bags of rubbish. Reigate & Banstead Borough Council (R&BBC) is holding a consultation which runs until Sunday 13 October to understand what the community’s priorities are for making improvements and to seek their suggestions for particular projects. When new development is built, R&BBC collects money from developers through the CIL to fund the infrastructure, facilities and services needed to support the cumulative effect that development can have on the area. Most of the money is used to fund large schemes – like schools, healthcare and transport. However a proportion is made available to spend on smaller local projects in the neighbourhoods where Guides and Brownies with the Lego walk development has been built. Cllr Richard Biggs, Executive Member for Planning Policy, said: “Our CIL Local Fund gives communities an opportunity to inform how money we Brian, our happy Eileen with Ted after her Paracise collect from developers is spent to improve and enhance the facilities litter picker! demonstration. and services in their neighbourhood, making sure that we all feel the benefits that new development can bring. “Examples of projects delivered through the fund include Church hall kitchen, Fir Tree Road vehicle activated speed signs and improvements to Reigate Castle grounds. To date we have used this funding to install the external gym, make improvements to the playground path, re- surface part of Mead Avenue and have outlined other projects such as traffic improvements near the school and carry out speed surveys.

In July Councillors met with R&BBC and we agreed the Consultation should still give our residents the opportunity to comment and we will then liaise and work with R&BBC on any feedback received. Mayor Foreman testing Shooting Stars Reigate Ramblers the gym

SIDLOW BRIDGE WI The Summer was hanging on, weather-wise, for the first meeting after the holiday season, although there were still some people taking a late break before the Autumn really set in.

After a short delay the meeting started with committee members covering for the absent officers, all relevant business was covered and diaries were needed to add in all the upcoming events which are always on offer to this very active WI. After a discussion the decision was made to cut down on the refreshments available at our monthly meeting, so in future there will only be tea and cake (no sandwiches) I think we can survive on that!

There was a display of items that had been entered into the recent Edenbridge & Oxted show by members, we were well represented and came away with some well-deserved prizes and encouraging comments.

After the finance report it was decided that we need to do some fund raising for ourselves, as funds were lower than we would like. A coffee morning was quickly arranged with the needed support promised.

As the speaker for the day, Michael Laiken, was preparing for his talk on antiques members added to the display with items brought along for discussion. Michael is a very experienced dealer in his field and kept us enthralled with stories of bargains and lost treasures. He told us stories that ranged from a vase that no-one wanted that was worth 51 million pounds to the beginnings of the Clarice Cliffe empire which started in Woolworths.

As with all antiques they are only worth what a person is prepared to pay. Value is a word used in different context from insurance, sentimental, current trends and historical criteria being considered.

Michael held our interest for so long time was running out, we had to continue with the meeting so individual members spoke to him about their items and points of interest raised. A very successful meeting all round.

After the raffle and tea, the meeting was ended with our president, Janet Mackenzie, reminding us that the next meeting was to have a Halloween Cup Cake competition. We meet on the second Tuesday of the Month in the Upper room of Emmanuel Church, Sidlow Bridge at 2.00pm. Visitors always welcome. sidlowbridgwi.btck.co.uk

Our new Reception classes are now in school full time and are enjoying exploring their learning across our exciting and motivating provision. There is a prevailing belief that people at the Aerodrome would like to see it sold off for development. However, the truth is that there are far more people who work in the businesses that lease premises who wish it to remain viable as an operational airfield. There is more employment based at the Aerodrome than you may realise, with approximately 400 people working there, many of them local. As you might expect, many businesses are in aviation, such as the flight schools and helicopter companies, but the Aerodrome is also home to the police and air ambulance helicopters, an We are getting close to our Nursery opening in January 2020.
