Nearby Lostwithiel was the ancient capital of Cornwall over 700 years ago. It is now famed for its antiques and individual boutiques, delis and restaurants. There is a pleasant riverside walk, a Medieval Bridge and the ruins of Restormel Castle nearby overlooking the Fowey river valley. Lostwithiel also has a doctors’ surgery, dentist, community centre and mainline train station to London. Fowey, just 8 miles away is renowned for its safe, deep water anchorage and sailing.
