SILK WAY RALLY 2017: A hard stage for Gerard De Rooy and his PETRONAS De Rooy IVECO Teammates Dutchman Ton Van Genugten finished the 5th leg from Astana to Semey in 10th position on his IVECO Trakker, just ahead of Kazakh pilot Artur Ardavichus aboard his #310 Powerstar Team leader Gerard De Rooy, after a great departure on his completely renovated Powerstar, was forced to stop at the CP2 because of mechanical problems later resolved at the bivouacs Today Team PETRONAS De Rooy IVECO will be engaged in the sixth leg from Semey to Urdzhar Semey, 13th July 2017 The 7th edition of the Silk Way Rally is underway. The participants started early yesterday morning in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan capital, and headed for the city of Semey. The route – more than 870 km long – included 329.25 km across the amazing landscapes of the Kazak steppe. In spite of a very good start, Gerard De Rooy, co-driver Moi Torrallardona and the experienced Polish mechanic Rodewald, were forced to stop the truck before the finish line, exactly at the CP2. “We started this morning well motivated – said De Rooy – but unfortunately, after about 100 km, we decided to stop at CP2 because of a mechanical problem.” It was not an easy day for IVECO: Ton Van Genugten, behind the wheel of his #306 Trakker Evolution, finished the stage in 10th position, 51m42s behind the first. After stage 5, the driver is 10th also in the partial general classification. Artur Ardavichus and Belgian co-pilot Bruynkens drove the #310 Powerstar avoiding to take risks and closed the day just behind teammate Van Genugten: for the Kazakh pilot the result of this 5th leg confirmed his 5th position in the truck overall classification of the Silk Way Rally. -

The Rise of “Brics” Economies the New Phase of Globalisation Aswani Alexander Assistant professor Department of management St Paul institute of professional studies Indore INTRODUCTION Coordination between Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) began informally in 2006, with a working meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Since then, the acronym, created a few years earlier by the financial market, no longer confined itself to identifying four emerging economies. BRIC became a mechanism for cooperation in areas that have the potential to generate concrete results for Brazilians and the peoples of the other member countries. Since 2009, the Heads of State and Government of the group meet annually. In 2011, at the Sanya Summit, South Africa became part of the grouping, adding the "S" to the acronym, now BRICS. In the last 10 years, 10 Summit meetings have taken place, with the presence of all the leaders of the mechanism: 1st Summit: Yekaterinburg, Russia, June 2009; 2nd Summit: Brasília, Brazil, April 2010; 3rd Summit: Sanya, China, April 2011; 4th Summit: New Delhi, India, March 2012; 5th Summit: Durban, South Africa, March 2013; 6th Summit: Fortaleza, Brazil, July 2014; 7th Summit: Ufa, Russia, July 2015; 8th Summit: Benaulim (Goa), India, October 2016; 9th Summit: Xiamen, China, September 2017; 10th Summit: Johannesburg, South Africa, July 2018; and 11th Summit: Brasília, Brazil, November 2019 Since the first summit in 2009, BRICS has significantly expanded its activities in several fields, but it was the financial field that guaranteed greater group visibility from the outset. -

Sustainable mobility solutions are emerging as an important industry across the world By : INVC Team Published On : 13 Sep, 2018 08:00 PM IST INVC NEWS Russia , Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, recently visited the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in Russia. The visit began with a tour of the diamond cutting and polishing factory set up by the KGK Group of India in Vladivostok. It has a manufacturing capacity of 150,000 carats of diamond per year and employees 400 people. The facility was inaugurated by Russian President, Vladimir Putin, last year. The Commerce Minister had discussions with KGK Group, MD, Vithal Ramani, to explore the potential and sourcing and value addition opportunities in the diamond trade for India. The Minister also held bilateral meeting with Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. Discussions took place on areas of cooperation between India and Russia to strengthen bilateral ties for economic growth. The Minister also interacted with the Governors, Vice-Governorsss and Representatives of the Russian Far East Regions of Primorye, Yakutia, Sakhalin, Amur, Magadan, Kamchatka, and Khabarovsk. Discussions were held on possibilities of mutual cooperation in sectors like mining, agriculture and tourism. Commerce Minister apprised them of the various business and investment opportunities in India and the Government of India’s initiatives to facilitate the same through Invest India. He invited the Governors of the Far East Regions to lead business delegations to India and explore partnerships with Indian businesses. Minister, Suresh Prabhu, also held discussions on enhancing bilateral trade and investment between India and Russia with Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and Aysen Nikolayev, Governor of the Sakha Republic. -

On one hand, Hong Kong offers a case of media capture in an uncensored media sector and open market economy similar to those of Western industrialized democracies. Yet Hong Kong’s comparatively small size, close proximity, and broad economic exposure to the authoritarian markets and politics of neighboring Mainland China, which practices strict censorship, place unique pressures on Hong Kong’s nominally free press. Building on the literature on media and politics in Hong Kong post-handover and drawing on interviews with journalists in Hong Kong, this article examines the dynamics of media capture in Hong Kong. It highlights how corporate-owned legacy media outlets are increasingly deferential to the Beijing government’s news agenda, while social media is fostering alternative spaces for more skeptical and aggressive voices. This article develops a scholarly vocabulary to describe media capture from the perspective of local journalists and from the academic literature on media and power in Hong Kong and China since 1997. -

The creation of the infrastructure linking member states (China, Russia, Mongolia) is one of the priority directions of this cooperation. First of all, the possibility of constructing a high-speed railway (HSR) is discussed. It is Keywords known that HSRs exert an overall positive effect on the development of regional !!environmental impact economies, especially on such brunches as tourism and regional cooperation. However assessment, this initiative carries risks for the natural ecosystems of the region such as: land take, !!Trans-Baikal Territory biodiversity loss, degradation and fragmentation of habitats, increasing pollution, barrier !!high-speed railway, effects, noise, land use impacts. This paper is focusing on the potential impacts of under !!spatial analysis, project on the geosystems. The spatial analysis results show that the project is likely to !!geographic information endanger 43 out of 122 natural geosystems located on the Trans-Baikal Territory. This report presents the results of an analysis of the impact that international freight traffic barriers have on logistics, transit potential, and development of transport corridors traversing EAEU member states. The authors of EDB Centre for Integration Studies Report No. 49 maintain that, if current railway freight rates and Chinese railway subsidies remain in place, by 2020 container traffic along the China-EAEU-EU axis may reach 250,000 FEU. At the same time, long-term freight traffic growth is restricted by a number of internal and external factors. The question is: What can be done to fully realise the existing trans-Eurasian transit potential? Removal of non-tariff and technical barriers is one of the key target areas. Restrictions discussed in this report include infrastructural (transport and logistical infrastructure), border/customs-related, and administrative/legal restrictions. The findings of a survey conducted among European consignors is a valuable source of information on these subjects. The authors present their recommendations regarding what can be done to remove the barriers that hamper international freight traffic along the China-EAEU-EU axis.
