Ghostbusters: West Coast “The Next Generation of Ghostbusters” A web series consisting of 12 hourlong episodes. Treatment by Carey Martell [email protected] Goal: Help to enhance the Ghostbuster franchise by continuing the story of the Ghostbusters movies and Ghostbusters: The Video Game (the game’s script was written with Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as cowriters; it’s essentially the third movie) with a new team of Ghostbusters who open a franchise in Los Angeles. Novel Ideas: ● Use ghost designs based on those featured in The Real Ghostbusters 198691 cartoon series and toyline (huge merchandising potential with collectors and youth). This makes it a show adult fans will want to watch with their kids. Some of the ghosts will be Samhain, the Boogieman, and the Sandman. ● A male and female Ghostbuster team; the cast will be selected from very popular YouTube comedians who have millions of subscribers. ● Show the negative consequences of the Ghostbusters’ celebritism and discovery of scientific ways to harness the occult (reemergence of a new Cult of Gozer). ● Story is focused on a Ghostbusters franchise based in Los Angeles rather than New York; new opportunities for well known locations to be haunted. Series Synopsis: PILOT Shortly after the events of Ghostbusters II, in the early 90s and at the height of the Ghostbusters popularity after saving the world, a group of kids who are members of the Junior Ghostbusters Fan Club enter a haunted house. • Hoosier Lottery
OOH Case Study Hoosier Lottery Problem How does a longstanding lottery business create an uptick in sales? Solution Create a new scratch-off lottery game themed around the upcoming release of the Ghostbusters movie and utilize an OOH campaign to drive recognition of this new lottery with the movie-hype. Background The Hoosier Lottery began selling lottery tickets in the state of Indiana in 1989. Since then, they’ve offered hundreds of different fun and exciting games and have awarded prizes to millions of players and given billions of dollars to the State of Indiana. One of the most recent and successful games to have launched is the $2 Ghostbusters Scratch-off game. It has been almost 32 years since the famous ghost fighting team saved New York from destruction. Since its initial launch in 1984, Ghostbusters has expanded its popular franchise into numerous movies and merchandising efforts. In July of this year the famous comedy got a reboot. In order to capitalize on the release of the upcoming movie, the Hoosier Lottery launched the $2 Ghostbusters Scratch-off game on June 7, 2016. There were six total Scratch-off scenes featuring iconic Ghostbusters imag- ery like Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Objective The objectives were to build awareness and preference for the new Ghost- busters Scratch-off game among lapsed players. The team wanted to drive affinity and evoke nostalgia as well as leverage the popularity of the Ghostbusters franchise among fans and ‘ghostheads’. To do this they needed to break through the clutter in market and drive awareness of the game through impactful media placements, maintaining excitement through a tradition- ally sluggish sales period.

This first mission was set at a museum. TICKET BOOTH ENCOUNTER MAGS: These PKE Meter readings are taking us into the museum ticket booth. Call out if you spot anything unusual. ZIGGY: AH! Terrifying! MAGS: Ziggy, did you find the ghost? ZIGGY: No, I just looked at the ticket price for admission. Talk about an arm and a leg. LOGAN: Wait (sniff, sniff) do you smell that? MAGS: First olfactory encounter with Spectral Flatulence. Very Intense. Pee-yew. ZIGGY: It’s like a burnt diaper left in a hot car. SFX: (Sound of ghost farts followed by ghost yelling in the distance) LOGAN: Did you hear that? MAGS: Everyone heard that. ZIGGY: I hope we find something to deal with that smell. I can barely keep my eyes open. LOGAN: The PKE Meter isn’t finding any other reading in this area. Let’s get back to scanning. MAGS: He makes portraits of people as if they were made of food. ZIGGY: Looks like someone thought it was real and took a bite out of it. And... eww, there’s some slime by the bite mark. No table manners. LOGAN: Boss, should we collect the slime? [YES CHOICE] LOGAN: Gotcha, I'll collect a sample and add it to the PIE.

  • Who Ya Gonna Call?
Who Ya Gonna Call? If a person wanted to know what the most popular movie during the summer of 1984 was, all he or she had to do was walk into a room full of people and announce, “Who ya gonna call?” The resulting answer, Ghostbusters, was a blend of science fiction and comedy that took the world by storm and left audiences begging for more. Ghostbusters starred Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as enterprising “ghost hunters” in New York City. Unknown to the Ghostbusters, the evil entity known as Gozer has moved into the city, causing a rise in paranormal activity. Gozer’s arrival eventually unleashes ancient spirits known as The Gatekeeper and The Keymaster, which possess Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and her nerdy neighbor, Louis Tully (Rick Moranis). The film ends with a climactic battle between the Ghostbusters, Gozer, and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man above the streets of New York. According to the DVD’s commentary track, several major changes were made before Dan Aykroyd’s vision could be put to film. For example, did you know Dan Aykroyd originally wrote the script with Eddie Murphy, John Candy and John Belushi in mind? Unfortunately due to prior commitments, neither Murphy nor Candy could join the cast, and Belushi passed away in 1983 before filming began. Ernie Hudson ended up with the role intended for Murphy; Rick Moranis accepted John Candy’s role, and Bill Murray took over the character intended for John Belushi. Ghostbusters was a blockbuster hit, earning approximately $240 million dollars during its theatrical run.

  • The Realest Ghostbuster by Maddox
The Realest Ghostbuster by Maddox "I'm sorry, you're too qualified for a position with the Ghostbusters." Yeah right, whatever. It was the last thing I thought I'd hear. Sitting in front of me in the re- purposed fire department was Dr. Raymond Stanz of the world famous ghost hunting agency. He seemed distraught, like a good friend giving a good friend some bad news. "I understand, Ray." I didn't. I felt my mouth utter those words, but they were empty. I didn't understand how someone so talented could be turned down for having too much of what they're looking for. I wanted to cut myself. "It's not every day you meet someone who's an expert on para- psychology, spectral forensics and has two masters degrees in phantasmal anthropology," he continued. Sitting next to him was a cross-armed Egon Spengler. I could tell that Egon felt threatened. But this didn't seem to be about my qualifications. There was something else... "Ghostbusters, how can I help you?" Janine, the secretary, picked up the phone abruptly. She dutifully jotted down some notes, nodding and looking over at us. "Uh-huh. Sure. Well I don't think we can get to that today." She had the voice of an angel. Janine Melnitz was a scrappy woman with the body of a lean bloodhound and dark burgundy hair. Her hips brushed past my shoulder as she walked over to tell the boys the news. Egon perked up in his seat. "There's a donut shop on Houston street that needs you." Egon furrowed his brow.
