All the Best to you all, Peter Wilkinson President FMPCC 3 COACHES MESSAGE As captain/coach I am pleased with our accomplishments from season 2015/16, however the new season is upon us. Training numbers in August where exceptional due to the indoor nets that were held at Leeming Rec Centre and the enthusiasm of the playing group. However, as September rolled in, so did the storm clouds and with a lack of sunshine and a plethora of rain and cold weather, the numbers have dwindled. That being said, the players who are turning up to training are benefiting in one way or another. Fitness sessions were quite light and normally incorporated some sort of ball sport such as basketball or AFL, and as the sun has started coming back out our net sessions have been productive and our ball skills have been getting progressively better by incorporating a bit of fun and competition into the activities. I encourage all players to come down to the club on training nights regardless of weather unless the session has been cancelled.

As I have said in the past, I believe that there is not one perfect player This year we compete against 7 different teams across each grade, playing within the club or the sport for that matter. Each individual has something each team home and away. As we have beaten most of the teams we are to bring to each team and contribute during the season, both at training coming up against in all grades in the last couple of years I strongly believe and on game days. However, as individuals we are but mere raindrops, that we can make season 2016/17 a successful one. however as a club of hardworking, striving, team members we are an ocean My beliefs as a player and coach are simple, of knowledge and power. It is therefore our responsibility to make the club a better place and be an active participant within the club. Something as  work smarter not harder simple as washing up a cup or stacking a chair can be just as valuable as

 express yourself but be accountable making runs or taking on the weekend.  I don’t expect anyone to give 120% every minute of the season but I do expect 100% when you’re training or playing Cadds Page 3 of 19

12 NOT CRICKET - ONE DAY DIV 2 REPORT 9 of those were sundries. They were a maddeningly poor bowling side but their shit got wickets. Their Match Report: 15/10/16 opening right-hander put it at good length, but I was able to smoke their WASTCA/One Day Div 2 lefty straight back past him from the first ball. Ray was caught not long after on 3, and I was joined by Murph. We ticked Subi-Marist [1/150] Def Fremantle Mosman Park [9/145] it over nicely taking us to 2 for 76. The mid-wicket discussions turned to We ventured to Floreat Park through rain and icy cold winds, but on arrival guys in shed, and making hay while the sun shone, when he was hit LBW the sun began to shine and the showers past. on 28 to some pedestrian trash that just gave him too much time to think. It was a prodigal homecoming of sorts. The old people speak of the genesis Mind you, if Trembles is umpiring, you are always better off being bowled of our one-day team, once fleeing from Subi Marist, and finding a new than letting one hit you on the pads. home on the banks of the Swan River, but this younger generation of the Quinny came out, swinging like rusty gate, and unfortunately just got WASTiCA family were an unforgiving bunch, and handed out a drubbing, nailed by a pearler that jagged in and took the top of off before he could that while not exactly biblical, was certainly less than Christian… get his eye in. Captain Raymond Garret expertly won the toss and elected to bat. I nicked off just after drinks on 41, Curly pushed it around for 4 and Darryl Thankfully, because we had all of 7 players at that stage; two opening made it to double batsmen [Ray and Steve], an umpire and a square leg, two scorers and figures with a myself padded up at number 3. couple of Daryl arrived at the start of play still muttering about the committee failing boundaries, but it to recognise his ‘leadership material’, and Quinny following soon after, in was left to Mikey an uber, with Han Solo-esque excuses: and Phoenix to play straight and ’It wasn’t my fault!’ bat out the overs, The team was rounded up to 10 with young Phoenix’s dad throwing on a which they training shirt and playing with us as sign of equal parts good parenting, and almost did until equal parts manly pity… like taking home a mangy dog you should probably the youngster just put down. I expect they will be opening next week. We had what we thought was a defendable 145 at tea, but no one could defend the shabby service offered by Subiaco; nothing more substantial than chocolate biscuits and Samboy chips. Somebody needs to have a talk with their mothers about being old enough to look after themselves, but I will save discussion about a culture that allows boys to remain domestically impaired, for another time. It was a clever ploy though, because I think some of us succumbed to a diabetic coma in the field. They were a batting side. Their openers easily dispatched the usually unplayable Mikey to the boundary, mostly behind square, and they gave Phoenix a pummeling. He took the only wicket of the innings, with Ray catching their most dangerous looking batsmen on 30. We all bowled, were expensive, their number 2 made 81 not out, and their Leon Ewing – Author timid looking number three made 28 more than he probably should have… Mercifully, Murph went for 16 off half an over, and we were done by 4:30pm. You have to think that if we had taken early wickets we might have been in with a sniff, but they made the runs by just after drinks and won by 9 wickets. An inauspicious start to the season, but the only way is up!

Heartening though, was the camaraderie, Ray’s opening speech as a captain spoke of everyone getting a go, and winning or losing as a team. And so we did, hanging around for a beer, laughing as we removed the bandages, and shuffling off to nurse our stiffness, more determined to come back better and stronger next week… or with at least 11 on the field.
